I'm back (sort of...) What did I miss?
Archive: 3 posts
Well, my basement flooded so all my gaming gear was pretty much toast. I did recover all my Nintendo stuff, but PS3 was a goner. For some amazingly awesome reason, I had a backup of my ridiculous space RPG on a USB, so all is not lost for that. Anyhow, my request for help is: What amazing advances in LBP2 logic did I miss while I was gone? Any news on the memory cell? How about some new damage system? Saving progress for returning to levels? The alternate 3D view? I'll browse the forums a little more eventually, but it seems pretty easy to miss the more significant things. I'm interested in just the advanced stuff, I can usually work out the easier things myself. Anyhow, thanks in advance. BTW: New PS3 slim is awesome, quiet, sleek, massive HDD. Not that I'm happy I had to replace it, but at least it's an improvement. | 2011-05-24 23:29:00 Author: SSTAGG1 Posts: 1136 |
Anyhow, my request for help is: What amazing advances in LBP2 logic did I miss while I was gone? Any news on the memory cell? How about some new damage system? Saving progress for returning to levels? The alternate 3D view? In reverse order: - "The alternate 3D view" has been explored to a certain extent. For the most part, extra layers are just being used for custom level backgrounds, but SteveBigGuns may be on to something with the First Person Shooter demo he put out recently. It was Mm Picked, so you'll forgive me for not going to the trouble of linking it. :-) - "Saving progress for returning to levels" has not advanced any. Media Molecule would have to patch the system, to significantly expand the game as a whole, for this technology to be present in any useful amount. For the time being, you'll have to be satisfied with what can be retained through level links (using player scores), or through stickers (sticker triggers can limit content to people who have found the stickers). - "A new damage system", I would suspect, is not in the works. Using current game features, you're looking at either Counters, or Sackbots, with a combination of Impact Triggers and Tags. The forum thread that best exemplifies this theory, from what I seen, is this one (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=50252-In-Game-Attributes-%28Sackbot-Lives%29). - "The memory cell" ... Okay, you're probably going to have to explain what you mean by that one. Or someone who already knows will have to chime in here. | 2011-05-24 23:59:00 Author: The Manx Turtle Posts: 50 |
Alright, so nothing too significant. I think I'll stick with my damage system (sig). Also, the memory cell is something a creator had made, but they designed it so incredibly awkwardly that no one knew how it worked. It involves a timer that adjusts to which ever input it has, and can be scaled up/down by any increment. It seemed quite incredible, but since they never continued their work on it (AFAIK), we're stuck with less useful devices. I'll probably have another go at creating it, since it would allow me to make a perfect damage system. Any news on it would be great. | 2011-05-25 14:41:00 Author: SSTAGG1 Posts: 1136 |
