Should i pick up LBP1?

Archive: 25 posts

Hello, i have some questions towards buying LBP1 from the welcome back offering from Sony..
Is it worth it at all? I have LBP2, but i've heard that there are some unique parts in LBP1, but how much of a difference is it? I've tried searching for it, couldn't find an answer aanywhere. I assume that even if i make a new LBP1 save file now, it'll still transfer to my LBP2 account?

Thank you in advance!

Firstly, you get access to all the materials and goodies of LBP1 if you earn them in that game. Plus the Story Mode is still decent even if it will probably feel a little bit less spectacular than what LBP2 shows off maybe. If it's free in that Sony welcome back package, what reason is there NOT to get it?

And you can use the LBP2 pause menu to choose an option that says import goodies earned in LBP1 or something along those lines. It imports all the stuff you earned in LBP1 without actually importing the whole profile, so you get to keep your LBP2 profile but with the LBP1 goodies added to it. Someone else will probably know better how it works than I do since I've never used the feature since the first day I got LBP2, so I've forgotten a lot of it now. XD

If you don't have it and you want to create in LBP2, then take it 2011-05-24 11:43:00

I say definitely get it. You will get heaps of unique materials and objects you can't get in LBP2 plus the story mode is very fun and beautifully designed I think you'd love it if you enjoy LBP2. Everything you get will transfer into LBP2. My verdict? Get it you can't go wrong.2011-05-24 11:46:00

Well it's like free massive DLC of items so i don't know why you even need to be convinced Just remember that you need to unlock items first in LBP1 story mode to get them in LBP22011-05-24 13:45:00

The main reason to get it i think is for the cool backgrounds.

If you want to make a level in the snow for example, then you can't go wrong with the winter background
(forgot what it was called)

Costumes, materials, stickers, deco's, backgrounds, objects... it has these things you don't have in LBP2 and great platforming gameplay. I'd say it's a must for any true LBP fan, and as stated... especially if you are creating.2011-05-24 23:03:00

I believe I saw a level not too long ago with all the LBP1 materials and costumes anyway, but it does have some good backgrounds that the level wouldn't be able to give. If there's only one other thing you want, I'd say go for it, otherwise I'd probably leave it personally.2011-05-25 08:14:00

Well, i think i'm goign to go with inFAMOUS and LBP1, before i couldn't really decide between LBP1 and Ratchet and Clank, but as i just got a RnC game in the mail yesterday, i tihnk it's settled on LBP1, if nothing else, then just to see what the differences are and unlock some cool new items! 2011-05-25 10:28:00

Like other people mentioned you will get a lot more materials, costumes, stickers, decorations and backgrounds. But you'll also be able to play the levels that are 'LBP1 only'. Plus you also get a fun story mode.2011-05-28 22:09:00

You should get it (if you haven't already). I love both games. LBP2 is more flashy and shiny and can do more things. LBP1 is mostly platforming levels and is incredibly charming. Its just as creative as the second game. I also think the story mode in LBP1 is more challenging, especially if you try to find all of the prize bubbles. The best part is (like everyone else has mentioned), all the items you get in LBP1 get transferred over to the 2nd game (and every time you get something new in LBP1, you can update your collection in LBP2), so you end up with twice as many materials/stickers/outfits!

Basically, make your levels in LBP2, and play LBP1 as an individual, complete and amazing game.

If you are a creator: buy it.

If you are a player: leave it.

If you are a creator: buy it.

If you are a player: leave it.

This is basically the final judgement for any LBPlanetian.

For creators, it offers up a multitude of stickers, decorations, materials and the like.
But for players, other than costumes, the story mode is a little, I hate to say it, but bland compared to LBP2. However you do get to play the amazing LBP1 only level series like LBPC: The Game, and Ama Toor.

well you say that but the other day i really wanted to play a lbp1 story level with my friend but then i realized my friend didn't have lbp1 and i was sad
lbp1 is still addictive even with lbp2 topping it.

Considering it's going to be free with the Welcome Back Sony program, there's really no reason to not get it...2011-06-03 18:26:00

Yes, i did, and i'm enjoying it VERY much! Super advice from everyone!
On thing that i really like, is the many co-op zones in the adventure mode, that i would've liked to see in LBP2.
But yes, SUPER awesome, a QUADRILLION of new skins, items, clothing.. EVERYTHING that you love about LBP!

I'm glad they removed them in LBP2, they are great if you have friends, but if you have not, it sucks.
Because then you have to use the online to get to them, and if you get lag... Good luck.
Getting most 4x prizes on LBP was a torture just because of the lag.

For a lot of co-op challenges, I just turned on more of my controllers and controlled all of them at the same time. It definitely makes it harder.2011-06-12 17:12:00

I did the exact same thing. Some of them are REALLY hard to do alone, but it's quite fun actually!
