The Unquiet Grave-a tale of undying love
Archive: 10 posts
My newest level is a movie interpretation of a 14th century English/Irish folk song called The Unquiet grave. It's the story of a young man who longs to be with the love of his life who has passed away. He shows his devotion by sitting and mourning on her grave for a year and a day. His crying will not let the ghost of his deceased bride sleep, and she appears to him to see what she can do to put his heart at ease... There are lots of versions of this song with varying lyrics, and slight music changes, but the theme always remains the same. The longing for a lost love. Here's a sample of one of my favorite version by the band Claymore Hx79840fp84 Anyway, I tried to make the level unique by giving it an abstract picture book look, I hope it is well received. Sorry for the double post, but here's a picture of the level showing the picture book look I was describing. http://i556.photobucket.com/albums/ss9/kaiju_kid/Grave.jpg | 2011-05-23 21:30:00 Author: kaiju_kid Posts: 329 |
Gratifying to see creators emphasizing the artistic quality of chosen themes with restraint and aplomb. So often creators don't treat the subject matter with due reverence or relevance. Clearly research has been put into the background material and with this to fall back on everything else falls into place: suitably haunting musical melody with atmospheric instrumentation, subdued graphical interface with interchanges between dark grey somber tones and the occasional flash of vivid brightness. The material and effects chosen once again don't jar against the subject matter, they help contribute towards the atmospheric environment. A great melancholic movie for thsoe reflective moods...now cheer up Kaiju you miserable monkey and give us a level with some fun gameplay....I know you're hiding them on your moon?! | 2011-05-24 00:50:00 Author: EnochRoot Posts: 533 |
I'm actually not fond of romantic things, but this film definitely touched my heart. The amazing combination of materials combined with the camera effects and music gave a melancholic display of perfection; clever use of the decorations on the male's eyes and female's lips as well. I liked how the right use of different color schemes enhanced the mood projected through this artistic piece, and the way you portrayed the picture book look was done well too! Nicely done! If you can, would you play through any one of my levels in my signature? The level I'm looking for more feedback on is Ninjas of Karura, but since it's kinda difficult you don't have to leave feedback on that if you don't want to. Feel free to play through and leave feedback on my other levels if you wish! | 2011-05-24 01:36:00 Author: Qrii_Nakari Posts: 204 |

The first thing I did after playing is to search and listen the song (Claymore), because have not heard before. Touching song and touching LBP presentation. Done with much feeling, dragged me into the screen and left silent. Contrast and color choices fantastically reflects essence of the song and leave nobody indifferent. Wonderful experience! Thank you.
