Make Lethal Holograms?
Archive: 6 posts
I have a space ship that shoots electrified holograms. I want these to kill enemies, however, it doesnt seem to work. I have enemy space craft. I have tried impact sensors and projectile sensors. (I figured anything with lethality attached became a "projectile", I guess not???). Anyways, this is important because of the way the weapon works. It shoots a long sword like hologram and it looks like it is stabbing right through the target. A solid object will not emit through an emitter if something is in the way. The hologram can be emitted through an emitter even when something is blocking it, thus the cool "stabbing" effect. When something is in front of the ship, a solid object simply will not emit (a hologram always will) Check the end of my video for a sample of exactly how this "gun" works, not the green pulse, but the white laser swords. http://youtu.be/N0jFUawYySk?t=8m19s I'd really like when my emitted hologram touches an enemy, for it to be able to set off some sort of trigger. Maybe I should try attaching tags all the way along the hologram stick with a small range tag sensor on my enemy which activates a destroy sensor??? Just tested it. Works Perfectly. Stacked the entire beam with orange tags and put an orange tag sensor on my enemy wired to a destroy action. (set tags to invisible during play mode) Its like a light saber shooting out of the ship into the enemy. SWEET! | 2011-05-20 02:28:00 Author: Unknown User |
The projectile sensor is almost completely useless with how well the tags work. Isn't if funny... In lbp1 magnetic keys were used to make all kinds of gates... now tags are still the most useful tools in a totally new way. | 2011-05-20 02:46:00 Author: Dortr Posts: 548 |
You already figured it out but I'll still give you the way I would have done it. I would put 1 tag on each piece of holo and use impact sensors on the enemies set to require that tag and include touching. It's a little more accurate than tag sensors and a lot more thermo friendly. | 2011-05-20 05:28:00 Author: riverad08 Posts: 104 |

But my problem was that impact sensors were not detecting the hologram material. That's because they're not a formal solid, I would presume. Glad to see you got it all figured out. In the future, try to avoid double-posting and instead just edit your original post. I've gone ahead and merged the posts for you. | 2011-05-20 12:54:00 Author: schm0 Posts: 1239 |
The impact sensors should detect the hologram.. Are they on the same layer with include touching and require tag on? | 2011-05-20 18:33:00 Author: Dortr Posts: 548 |
