spinning platforms

Archive: 6 posts

This might've been asked already but I sure can't find anything and im sure this is extremely simple to do but I cant figure it out for the life of me. Any how, my question is how do you make a platform spin and stop, then spin again. I just need a rectangle of metal to spin around a few times and stop so the player can jump across and it spin again as a trap. thank you in advanced!!2011-05-20 01:45:00

If i can i prefer to just have them keeping spinning then stop, spin, stop without the player having to be within an area, ex: an object is spinning via motor bolt and if you disrupt the circuit, it stops for a few seconds but goes back online by itself. My guess is using simple logic. Just don't know how to build it...level example. LBP2 community level, Neon Limits by nuclearfish, in his level he's got spinning platforms that spin and stop (color light purple)2011-05-20 02:40:00

The easiest way is to use a wobble bolt. You can precisely set their angle, rotation and pause time, so it's dead simple to, say, get the platform to spin 360 degrees, pause for 2 seconds, then spin back the other way. With any other method you're going to need additional sensors/logic to make sure the platform always stops exactly in an upright position, etc.2011-05-20 09:04:00

You can use a counter attached to a timer that resets the counter every 2 seconds or whatever you want.

Better idea. Add a tag sensor on the play, and then a tag that will stop the platform when it come into its area and attach that to a timer that turns off the tag to make it start spinning again. This way you can make the platform stop where you want too as well as pause then spin again.
