Rage inducing games

Archive: 24 posts

Just been playing a bit of Bioshock 2, and I get so into it I end up shouting obscenities frequently. In fact I get this way with most games, lol.
Anyone else get easily frustrated with games, and if so what games particularly?

I always get angry when I beat a game in one day and there isn't any replay value. 2011-05-19 23:46:00

Never in my life have I ever broken a controller worse than when I played through Mirrors Edge. ****y AI, a horrible object detection, the game was good, dont get me wrong, but that object detection... *Shudders*2011-05-20 02:58:00

Bioshock 2 was a breeze for me, but that's coming from someone who loved to abuse the upgraded Security Command and Hypnotize plasmids as to constantly have a gang of gun-toting pals at my side or some other all-encompasing overpowered gameplay strategy.

For me the most frustrating games I can remember were the Devil May Cry games set on "Dante Must Die" mode, I love the games (except the second) otherwise and am pretty good at them but I'm not one of those fanatic DMC players who can pull off insane gameplay feats. The first DMC's DMD mode was particularly brutal what with the one healing item inventory limit; had to rack up on devil stars and untouchables to make it through it all.

I've got myself three very worthy contenders.

3. Assassin's Creed (particularly the second one, as that's the only one I've played). The frickin controls are HORRIBLE! Don't get me wrong, I'm sure it's a fantastic game once you get the god-awful controls memorized. But for me, personally, I just can't get passed them. I mean, having to press two buttons at a time just to be able to run, then not being able to JUMP in a game that involves massive amounts of climbing! WTH?!

2. Grayspence hit the nail on the head with Mirror's Edge. I got the one trophy, it's called 'freak out' or something, because I was smashing the buttons on my controller (poor thing...) while falling to my death after dying thirty times at the same part. When the trophy popped up, I had to laugh. They reward you for getting absolutely miffed and ruining your controller.

1. Tron: Evolution. First of all this is a poor excuse for a game. The sheer monotony is ridiculous! At least other hack n' slash, beat em' for no good reason, punch-people-in-the-face-for-fun games do it with a little bit of style and variety. You're literally fighting the same people over and over again, they're just different colors. The only 'enemies' that have even a sliver of variety are the light tanks and they're impossible! Not to mention the controls... I threw this game under my TV stand and there it shall rot for all eternity.

Let's see here...

Red Dead Redemption, 'cuz people are n00bs,
All Call of Duties since they all use the "tube",
Burnout because you crashed my car,
Fat Princess because you've burnt me to a char,
Flower because of those ******* electric wires,
LittleBigPlanet (again 'cuz of fire),
Super Smash Bros. due to button-mashers,
Any old arcades due to record-smashers,
Donald Going Quackers (must I say why? -_-),
Warhawk (especially when they bombard from the sky),
Territory Wars 'cuz they outsmart me,
And Amnesia: The Dark Descent... it's that creepy.

Well I comfortably earned the bioshock 1 platinum trophy so I thought bioshock 2 would be simple.
But defending the little sisters is infuriating!

Two words all you Bioshock 2 haters that cant defend your Little Sisters:

Ball turrets.

ANyway, as for rage inducing games for me? Theres only one, and it takes the top slot by so far its the only one near its caliber. I beat that game and LOVED it but man did I nearly smash my keyboard.

Trying to Ace some of the levels in LBP2 gave me the heavy computer rage.
Back in the day (Spectrum/Amiga/Amstrad) it was common to have such rage inducing games, as they were clunky and frustrating to play.

LBP2's "old skool" platform levels were just as rage inducing. I was so relieved when I'd finaly aced them all and would never need to bother with it again

And trap rivets placed randomly around the ADAM corpse. It's funny but it keeps the splicers from stopping the little sister from gathering.

BioShock 1 in survivor difficulty was a pain in the start, specially without vita-chambers. But after a while, I got adapted to the stakes and could get around with no problems. (protip: use security bullseye + intentional alarm on every big daddy! )

Not hating, just frustrates me. Really like the game so far though

Exactly this. Even used this on the final boss (survivor difficulty) to kill him in less than about 2 minutes

ever played collosseum: road to freedom? that game made my eyes glow red,i threw my controller against the wall one time. each game you play 6 matches,if you lose a fight you lose all the weapons and armour youve collected with no checkpoints or a second chance.shame becouse its otherwise brilliant & very addictive

also mech platoon for the gba,i think thats the game that made me break it. not mad though

Tomb Raider. Any **** Tomb Raider game is asking to lose your sanity. I played Underworld the other day to get the last few trophies (and nothing more) and I got so ticked off I even swapped controllers thinking it would do something. It's not so much about what you have to do in Tomb Raider, it's how you do it. Jump to this ledge and she won't grab it yet she should be able to. Get stuck on this corner or object. Spend ages trying to get the camera to work only to end up dying in the process because most of the time it screws up near some dangerous situation or obstacle. That and the lack of realism in things. Either vehicles go slow instead of fast and vice versa, or it takes over 20 shots to kill a human enemy. Granted, most things I mentioned were in Underworld, but in general Tomb Raider is a franchise that no one could ever play without at least once getting ticked off when playing any of the games. 2011-05-24 18:03:00

The game that gets me annoyed the most is definitely uncharted 2, seriously they need to get that crap sorted out at times. Frequent cheaters on it, spawn killing, camping, throwing the treasure at places you can't get to (over the edge of the level). It's a shame it doesn't work, as it's a good game. But that is definitely the game that gets me wound up to the point of wanting to frizbee the disc at the wall. GRR.2011-05-24 19:07:00

I Wanna Be The Guy (http://kayin.pyoko.org/iwbtg/), purposely built to be pure evil.

As well as that, ragequitters in Pok?mon. And Sandstorm teams.

Dead Rising 2.... I hate it how you have to beat the game in a certain amount of time...

Fallout 3... You make one mishap without saving.. It's over, you gotta restart the game.. And at the same time, it's a ADDICTING! Whoa!

Yeah, any rage quitter in a 1-on-1 online Vs match.

I'm an honest, honerable guy, so I will play "to the death" - even if it's my own death.
Meaning for most games my online ranking stinks - even though I'm a good player - because any time I'm beating someone they'll quit - no win... and anytime I lose, I finish the game - so all that is counted are my losses and none of my wins - because practically everyone (99%) rage-quits if they are losing.

A quit should count as a forfiet in ALL games!

Yeah, I also agree with gdn001, I always get raged with Call of Duty Online.. Especially when they're cheating .. They always get more of a unfair advantage.. The lag switch hack.. The other hacks I forgot the names of.. 2011-05-30 06:09:00
