I was hoping that i could begin this long deserved holiday for this great man, and since it is his birthday, i believe we should honor him for his efforts toward civil rights for the african-american people. I find it hard to believe that Martin Luther King jr has a holiday and yet this great man does not recieve a day of his own. i believe that in honoring him along with honoring martin as well,we honor the best of ourselves. I have reason to believe that many people believe that he was racist, but he was in fact not, he only spoke out against the atrocities that were being commited and spoke for the rights and unity of his people and has proved to be more than just any man but a great one at that, and in this we honor him by simply celebrating the day he was born to show that his efforts along with others in the community have come together to make america a better place not just for the african americans but everyone along with them.
