Lights Shutting Off During Story Play

Archive: 3 posts

Last year my playstation broke, and I guess I didn't save my profile correctly. I still have my trophies, just not my lbp items.
I put the disc in to go through and play again, but I keep having problems with story mode. Every time I try to play, it's as if the global lighting shuts off and everything is dark, but the point bubbles will still glow. Any idea what could be causing this? Is it hit or miss? It's happened every time I've tried to play. LBP2 works just fine, no issues.

I've made a new profile... still happens. We were just playing right now, can't even get past the 2nd level "get a grip". The lights just shut off completely! We went back to the pod... and the lights were still off! the white text bubble at the bottom that says "use pod computer" will show up, point bubbles, lightbulbs, your poppit outline.. those show up, but nothing else! What could be causing this?!

here is a video of it with a black screen...

i think maybe a patch that MM put out doesn't agree with our system or something... so i think we are going to delete the game data and try to play without connecting to the internet or running any of the updates and see if that fixes it.

Well it can't be a profile problem, otherwise it'd fix when using a new profile I'd expect. Maybe the game data has something wrong with it, or maybe the disc is faulty? Can you test the disc on any other PS3 console? Maybe that would help determine if it's your console or just the game if deleting the game data doesn't do anything.2011-05-18 15:53:00

I do not know anyone in my immediate area with a ps3 that I could test on right now or anything, but we thought about that as well. The next time we are around people who also have a ps3, we want to try it. Thanks for trying!
