Help Playing Tube Racer 2 GOTY Edition

| Joined this forum to ask this question because I can't find anything about it either online or through search of posts here. Playing Tube Racer 2 community level in the GOTY edition. In the final race against the tank it says "shoot" and some online videos show people shooting but there seems to be no way to shoot with the controller. I've tried every button including R1. Actually my three-year old has. This is one of the few levels he can play all by himself until it gets to that point.
