Review #16 Clove: Space by Spenson66 http://lbp.me/v/w305gs I had actually played Clove 2: Depths area 1 before this one. I had expected this one to be of the same fashion. But it's actually an arcade style shooter. When I had first played I thought it was just gonna be an uninspired asteroid remake, 10 seconds later I'm hooked. Gameplay This game is a lot like "Blast Radius" by Johnee, which was excellent. I will be comparing the 2 a lot. The controls are pretty much the same, You shoot at asteroids and other various enemies. Blast Radius was slower paced and had a lot less enemies. That's whats special about Clove: Space. The enemy variety. Where blast radius had many weapons and few enemies, Clove has few weapons and Many enemies. Clove: Space introduces enemies by first having them appear as a miniboss. You'll face a large version of the enemy, then after you defeat it you then face smaller versions of it regularly. It keeps the game fresh within its 5 minute time. But the weakness in Clove: Space comes from its lack of weapons and options. Blast Radius had 5 weapons, no upgrades, and a bomb that wiped the screen, Clove: Space has 1 weapon and 5 upgrades. The feeling of upgrading the weapon is very rewarding but I think more variety would've been better. Also another problem is that when you die you can die immediately after you die. But few problems aside Clove space's gameplay is addicting and fun. 42/50 (Crispity Crunchety) Atmosphere The game uses neon and neon outlines for everything. It looks nice but there isn't much of it. The background is completely black, Some "Stars" would've helped the "Space" theme. As I was playing I didn't feel like it was "Space". The enemies look great though. They're unique. 18/30 (Eh) Music and Sounds The game's single track is a great original song, But since it's the only song it gets a bit repetitive. I appreciated Blast Radius's ability to choose music and volume. Sounds are used good enough. 13/20 (k) Final Thoughts This game is a lot like blast radius, It's not quite as good but it's still a fantastic alternative. I really like how the sequel isn't just an update of this game, but rather an adventure type game. I'll review the 2nd one when all the parts are finished. 73/100 (Superb) :star: I Approve. <3 Hearted it.
