Destroying/Emitting to save thermo
Archive: 6 posts
I am running a level to where things emit and are destroyed as you progress to save thermo, however, I am still having some difficulty, towards the end of my level in play mode it says emitters are failing. However, by this point literally everything is destroyed in my level except the last thing and my score screen should spawn. So i guess my question is does deleting things always help your thermo? Because if I just test the last section, after it deletes a previous section my thermo goes up rather then down, however a huge chunk of my level is now gone that is currently there. Some tips or insight on this would be greatly appreciated. | 2011-05-16 09:34:00 Author: Bourne_ Posts: 33 |
Believe it or not it's quite intensive on the thermo if you have destroyers deleting a lot of a level at once. If you have the deleting parts and emitting parts working simultaneously it's likely that the thermo gets so high upon deletion that it is unable to emit anything at that time. Try allowing a few seconds between emission and deletion to see if that helps at all. | 2011-05-16 14:25:00 Author: Xaif Posts: 365 |
Its not all at once, each section is emitted as the player arrives and the previous deleted. I lowered my score limit on a game though because it was taking to long and must of freed up just barely enough thermo, cuz its working for now.. lol Thank you though | 2011-05-16 15:08:00 Author: Bourne_ Posts: 33 |
Yeah that's what I mean, if you're emitting and deleting the level as you go, large portions must be getting deleted and emitted at a time. What I'm getting at is that when a large section is deleted, the thermo spikes for an instant then settles straight back down once everything has vanished. If you have your destroyer and emitter triggering at the same time the thermo may be too high during the deletion process and the emitter therefore fails to emit as there isn't enough thermo left. What I suggested is have the old part be deleted, wait a couple of seconds then have the new part emitted, which will be less intensive on the thermo and surely won't cause the emitter to fail. See what I mean? | 2011-05-16 15:22:00 Author: Xaif Posts: 365 |
If emitter fails means you need to destroy more ;] | 2011-05-16 16:12:00 Author: Shadowriver Posts: 3991 |

See what I mean? Yeh, that makes sense and thanks for the explanation lol. Unfortunately though, thats how it is already working. I do not believe anything is going at the same time, guess I can atleast double check though. Thank you | 2011-05-16 21:17:00 Author: Bourne_ Posts: 33 |
