Enigmatic Music Pack

Archive: 34 posts

Hey all, I know this is better off in the object showcase forum, but you can't tie your lbp.me to the title there so I figured I'd post it here. We all know this game has a lighthearted spirit, but there aren't as many serious, more morbid tracks in the game so I made versions of some of the darker tracks from old school rpg games that I know a lot of people around here love (myself included!). All the music tracks are available as prizes for your own use, if you like them or use them in your level please toss a heart my way

The tracks included are (real version is listed afterwards as a reference):
Dark World - FF6 [Dark World (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dAC63ZvhCd8&feature=related)]
Pandemonium - FF9 [Pandemonium (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E0nXOKMApG4)]
Mayfil - Legend of Dragoon [Mayfil (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gwq0yHqcut8)]
Iifa Tree - FF9 [Iifa Tree (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Warw9qxJ70c)]
The Dead Sea - Chrono Cross [The Dead Sea (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ine3_jdQIIs)]
Memoria - FF9 [Memoria (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1_ThCuNfA_M)]

I'll update it every now and then, but my schedule is a bit hectic for the next week or so. If you have any suggestions for future tracks let me know! I'm thinking I'll probably do "The Great Crystal" from FFXII or "Trail of Blood" from FF7 next.

Tried it and absolutely loved the music. Final Fantasy IX is one of my favourites games ever and it was quite awesome to have those tunes in LBP. Thanks a lot.

Give a shot to my latest level http://lbp.me/v/0d2x0j if you can and leave feedback in the related thread (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=56941-8-Bit-Kung-FU-Fighters).

Fantastic emulation of those great RPG tunes. One of the genres that is really suited to the sounds and instruments available on LBP2. I'm always in awe of people who have the talent to create music like this....I can't even whistle a tune. Hopefully I will be able to use a track or two in upcoming levels. I've already started dragging mates on to this great free gallery, very generous gifts. Hearted.

Hey roflwaffle, I'm glad you liked Emeria! (http://lbp.me/v/yzfc42)

I checked out the level, really well done. The tunes were excellent, really great job! This is hardly worth mentioning but maybe have a player sensor set to change the doors direction instead of a button set to power. Then the doors would stay open while you are in front of them. But no big deal. As a big FFX fan I was a little sad but overall a great selection of tracks haha! Nice job and thanks for your level.

Thanks! Yeah I need more FFX stuff, I just finished the Temple of the Ancients from FF7 so I'll update it in a little, and I was actually thinking about doing Lulu's theme next.2011-05-23 23:46:00

Wow, this is very generous of you to give music you've recreated on LBP! Dark music too! I like! I'm a bit iffy on publishing my own collection of songs I've recreated due to thieves and the like, so I admire your bravery. Fantastic job on the recreations! Keep it up!

For when you have the time, would you play through any of my levels in my signature? Any one of them is fine or you can play through all of them if you wish! Just be warned that Ninjas of Karura can be a bit difficult to get through, so you don't have to play through and leave feedback on that if you don't want to.

I'll try to, but it'll be a while if I do manage to get around to it, I have a few other requests to finish first so I'm spread thin. I never really got into Castlevania so I'll check those songs out.2011-05-24 19:02:00

Hi Roflwaffle,

Just gave your level a go..
I appreciate many types of music and yours on this level were great.. my fave 2 were 'to the place of the gods' and 'the dead sea', both of which reminded me of an old 80's movie Blade Runner...
Some of the tunes are quite chilled so may think about using one on a level I'm working on.

Thanks for the feedback you left for me.. your the first to comment on the music I chose. I wanted something calm but snappy, so the chilled drum & bass tune felt right somehow...

thanks again.

Hi and thank you for all the music I was really surprised to see the FF11 song in there and other RPG games. I haven't listen to all of the ones I picked yet, but so far it all sounds pretty good. Again, thanks for the music I hope you continue creating 2011-05-24 21:52:00

I only know a few of these songs, and not to an extent where I can tell how close you have come to the originals, but as songs in the game, they sound excellent. Also going to the effort of making multiple versions incase people don't have the DLC is pretty generous, not to mention even sharing them to start with. I'm sure these will be used for many stages in the future.

I wish that I could even half way do what people like yourself do. Maybe I'm picking the wrong songs to begin with, but all my efforts sound terrible. I have been trying to get the BTTF theme sounding good for quite some time, but I think this is to do with the limitations of the music selections. I'm sure you could prove me wrong though, and it's be fantastic if you could!

Your stage design is serviceable, but the first thing I did was run off off the edge to see what was down there. The crypts that housed the music looked really good, your stickering on the insides actually made them look slightly curved.

I agree with pretty much all the former; it's nice to see someone use the musical sequencer instead of just recording some pop song and sticking in a level.
As with a few of the previous comments, I haven't heard some of the tracks before, not having played some of the final fantasy games myself, so I can't compare said tracks with the originals.
Future suggestions - maybe branch out and make music from some of the ridiculously popular games in another showcase level, such as zelda ocarina of time or something like crash bandicoot? That game had music that was a lot of fun.
Overall, a nice utilisation of the music sequence and a from me.

Played your level, and I have to salute you for your diligent music composing! Granted, I recognized none of those tunes (the RPGs I've played mostly consist of many Zelda games, Guardian's Crusade, etc.), but I realize how much work that must have been to get those tracks down. They all sounded great to me, each with a different mood and theme. Good job!2011-06-16 04:48:00

Hey all, sorry for the delay in pumping out an update, rl has been keeping me busy D: I changed the name to "RPG Music Pack" because I've been thinking about adding a few more varied tracks such as boss music and other pieces, in which case the original name wouldn't really fit. I added 3 new tracks as well Click the links in purple to listen to the original versions if you want a reference.

Dragon's Prayer - Chrono Cross [Dragon's Prayer (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Iv3DhSLPEVE)]
Whisper's of the Gods - FF11 [Whisper's of the Gods (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7h7ErtoGEhk)]
Rose of May - FF9 [Rose of May (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SdIE9b-b0Wg)]

Enjoy! And as always, please leave any constructive criticism and comments so I can improve

I finally got around to adding some new tracks for those interested still. I know I said I would update it a lot in the last post (which turned out to be a lie ) but it just didn't make sense to pump hours into it for single digit plays, so sorry for those who were waiting for more, and thanks to those who played!

The new songs are once again both from FF11, one from a swampy graveyard area and another from a nightmarish world that looks like it's made almost entirely out of ash. Any and all plays are appreciated!

Illusions in the Mist - FF11 [Caedarva Mire (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kdvil51cMEc)]
Faded Memories - FF11 [Promyvion (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vd7NmxGHSic)]

Bump with an update Few minor changes first, I added the ability to toggle between the tracks with different versions so you can hear both now. I also added a chip at the end with all the tracks unstickered so those without DLC packs can still pick them up (Just as a warning, "Dark World" and "Dragon's Prayer" have impaired quality in the chip since I removed the bell sfx so those without DLC can use them). I may have missed a sticker somewhere, so if you don't have any DLC and can't pick up the chip still please let me know immediately so I can fix it.

I also tweaked the song "Dragon's Prayer" by lowering the high pitched Mosquito instruments in the intro by an octave so it doesn't sound so squeaky now.

As for the new tracks, they are:
The Undersea Palace - Chrono Trigger [Undersea Palace (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AfERAdq5GnI&feature=related)]
The Brink of Time - Chrono Trigger [The Brink of Time (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zyl8_twKEwE)]
*There are 2 versions, one is the regular version and another is a longer stretched out version

Enjoy

Just republished again with 2 new songs

A Secret Sleeping in the Deep Sea - FFVII [A Secret Sleeping in the Deep Sea (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2_5zD7rhwPo)]
Shadow of Cutting Shadows - Chrono Cross [Forest of Cutting Shadows (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NcIZtREgbsE)]

Once again, enjoy and let me know if there are any errors!

Hey, I have this queued, and I am very excited to see some of the music...
I do have a request though, I am workin on a pretty serious space fighter series, and I would love it if I could get my hands on some good custom space music. would you be interested in working on something like that, or know anyone who would?

Bump for another brand spanking new update, and this time with new instruments . I'm not entirely sure about whether or not people without the move pack can use tracks with new instruments, so for now I've left 2 of the new songs off of the chip at the end with all the music boxes (If anyone knows for sure if anyone can use move pack instruments then please let me know!). For now I'm only releasing new songs, I've already started updating old songs with new instruments to make them sound better but I'd like to tweak a few more songs before I release a big update.

The 3 new tracks are as follow:

Secret of the Forest (Piano Remix) - Chrono Trigger / zohar002 [Youtube link (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HllRJW6_R-o&feature=related)]
A very well done piano remix that's really emphasizes the mysterious nature of the original song, it's a really beautiful composition

A Strange Happening - Chrono Trigger [Youtube link (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TRTbwd3AHwc)]
A short, and weird song that sounds a bit evil. More for cutscenes than anything.

Choc-a-bye Baby - FFXI [Youtube link (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Woptv5O44Ro)]
A cute song which uses a fair amount of instruments and gradually builds up over time. This is definitely one of the best I've done so far I'll probably come back to this one again since I want to tweak the higher pitched flute notes.

Enjoy!

Bit of an update again

First, the level hub was completely redesigned by TulioR10 (big thanks!) and there was another name change. As for the songs, I updated quite a few with the new move pack songs and redid the sticker art so everyone can collect them. The follow songs have now been overhauled:

Dragon's Prayer (Chrono Cross)
Dark World (FFVI)
Forested Temple (FFVII)
Trail of Blood (FFVII)
Illusions in the Mist (FFXI)
Xarcabard (FFXI)

Once again, enjoy!

Man, if you like RPG music
this would be right up your alley:

http://soundcloud.com/state-of-psychosis

It's everything from DnB mixed with RPG music to just strait up Enigmatic downtempo.

The influences are Nobuo Uematsu and Philip Glass.
