It's because you guys put everything on the staff, who are already overwhelmed with the shear volume of posts. There's nothing stopping you guys from starting a contest - you have all of the same resources as the staff.

If you claim that you don't have a prize to give away - neither do they. Work something out, raise some money, try to get a contest going by contacting Media Molecule. It's the same hoops they'd have to jump through. Be warned, though, that contests tend to create unneeded drama because people don't like to lose. Then you have to worry about judging and ensuring that all of your judges are on the same page and are reliable. The last official contest we had was a disaster:

Several judges just didn't turn in scores Those creators who were not selected as finalists were very vocal about their disappointment (lots of negativity) There were participants who were using external sites to bolster their votes, since it was publicly judged The winner tried to sell his prize on Ebay

^ That's sad to hear.

Anywhooo... I think everything should be straightened out on the site first, (Yes I mean mainly the spotlight.)
Before we think about contests.
