Troublesome HUD...
Archive: 6 posts
I really am getting busy and, as a result, am finding myself hitting wall after wall. Basically, I have an awesome sword totting, wall running sackbot and I also have a pretty HUD (in the form of a timer) that sits at the top left of the screen (on a bit of invisible holo just like the real sackboy/girl following the sackbot) to go with him. Unfortunately, every time game cameras or movie cameras pan out the health bar is no longer positioned in the top left part of the screen and obviously isn't a constant size on-screen. Does anyone have any ideas or workarounds for this plight? And thank you in advance ! | 2011-05-14 17:32:00 Author: Unknown User |
I would just put a follower on it so it follows the player. It doesn't have to be right on the player. It can still be up to the side. Just put the hud off center of the following hologram block. But I don't know how to increase it's size if the camera zooms out. | 2011-05-14 18:42:00 Author: riverad08 Posts: 104 |
As far as I know what you're asking is impossible... if I understand correctly you want something to grow and shrink in real-time to accommodate for the camera zooming in and out. The only thing you can really do is have a movie camera positioned on the HUD with a set zoom. | 2011-05-14 22:14:00 Author: xero Posts: 2419 |

Thank you, and if I find a more practical way of doing this I'll be sure to share it on here | 2011-05-14 23:40:00 Author: Unknown User |
Create a piece of holo to follow the player and mount the HUD off that. As xero pointed out this alone won't adjust for zoom but if you use a couple of movie cameras with different levels of zoom you'll be able to adjust the HUD accordingly so it's always in the same position relative to the screen. | 2011-05-15 02:57:00 Author: Ayneh Posts: 2454 |
The best way would be to make the camera not zoom in or out by fixing it at a certain range and having it follow the player. I forget which function you have to use to make this happen, but I know it's possible. If you have control of the camera in this way you could make it zoom in and out on your own and use some logic to adjust your HUD as needed. | 2011-05-15 04:50:00 Author: anthman852 Posts: 66 |
