I'm happy about it. During the last few seasons, I really got sick of Charlie. Same thing happens every time: Drunk girl, innuendo, crisis involving alan, more innuendo, more innuendo. Everything but the episode where Judith has the baby was same old. Ashton could add something new to it.

His 'performance' consisted of being an idiot and looking pretty, possibly the only two talents he has. Charlie Sheen, say what you will about the man, has excellent comedic timing. not really a great actor, and really only good at a very narrow range of things, but his timing is always spot-on.

I doubt that Sheen is actually insane, he's just been living in the Hollywood bubble. The more money and power you have in Hollywood (well, everywhere, but Hollywood exacerbates these things), the more you are surrounded by people who will not contradict what you say, even if it's for your own good. Couple that with the kind of ego necessary to get anywhere in Hollywood, not to mention the incredibly free access to intoxicants of all sorts (and the interesting correlation between creativity, genius, and depression and the correlation between depression and substance (ab)use) and you have a recipe for disaster--look at Sheen, Lindsay Lohan, Mel Gibson, Britney Spears (only slightly stretching the Hollywood point), River Phoenix, etc etc etc.

Honestly, I don't think the show will make it now. Because Charlie Sheen made the show. I don't think anyone can do it as good as Charlie Sheen in the show, now I'm not a big fan of Charlie myself, I just watch the show whenever it's a new one
