Guest permissions
Archive: 7 posts
I was playing Viva Pinata TiP and it occurred to me that the online mode had a very useful function that could be implemented in LBP2 to produce a lot of relief from creators and give more peace of mind to the host and his guests. Basically, its a permissions board the host can access via the start menu, with a list of all the actions that can be allowed/forbidden for guests. These can be toggled to ALLOW, which would mean there is no restriction, ASK, which means that before they perform that action the host recieves a message at the top asking if they will permit it, and DENY, meaning it cannot be performed by a guest, ever. Things listed that could be disabled would be things like creating an object, disassembling objects, tweaking, moving wires, deleting things, placing or removing stickers, and most importantly, capturing objects. SO many threads are started on here and so much drama stems from guests doing things they shouldnt be doing, things that wreck someone's level, or them copying someone else's work. I always require people to ask to copy an object, and tell them as soon as they come in that if I see them copying an object without permission from its creator, they will be kicked from the moon and never allowed back in, ever. Invariably, I always catch someone whipping out the capture object tool without warning, and they are booted instantly and all requests to rejoin are denied indefinitely. Now I have no problem leaving a bootprint in someone's rear end but all too often the person I boot is someone else's friend and they start whining I'm being mean to their friend. I refuse to buckle, that person gets frustrated, and the entire experience of creating with my friends is ruined because of one person not following my very simple rules. Theres got to be an easier way, a way that keeps everyone happy, and I believe that would be guest action permissions. | 2011-05-12 15:09:00 Author: the Ion Pulsar Posts: 172 |
I totally agree. I don't let unknown people to follow me to my moon but with this function I can do it, without being worried that someone will steal my creations. | 2011-05-12 15:36:00 Author: Willman4 Posts: 170 |
This would help my insane paranoia when it comes to lbp. The list would be huge though, perhaps condensed to 'poppit cursor, object tools, capture tool' etc. Ps, your sig needs updating badly | 2011-05-12 18:54:00 Author: Radishlord Posts: 706 |
Well, don't make the list too long, here's a list that could be implemented: - Put stickers/decos in your pod; - Put stickers/decos on your sackperson; - Place new stuff in create mode; - Edit existing stuff in create mode; - Capture stuff in create mode. Options could be: Allow all, allow friends, always ask and always deny. | 2011-05-12 19:20:00 Author: gdn001 Posts: 5891 |
maybe the easiest thing to implement would be to automatically give all guests a play-mode popit unless you allow them to have full create-mode popit? | 2011-05-12 19:25:00 Author: Skalio- Posts: 920 |
I agree with this. It would make things a bit easier to manage. | 2011-05-17 05:15:00 Author: Tmjtk Posts: 258 |
Yup, it has been said before many times, this kind of thing is needed badly. tho i still think sackbots set to copy player costume should only work while in play mode so friends with Crowns won't ruin your level by mistake, or when your playing in a friend's moon and one of their other random friends join and try to take your costume. :/ *mew | 2011-05-17 20:15:00 Author: Lord-Dreamerz Posts: 4261 |
