advanced elevator help?
Archive: 11 posts
ok to put it simply i need to figure out how to make an elevator (or rather a block with the contolinator attached) move up slightly, stop at the desired place then move up again when i want it to . I need to repeat this several times in sequence. each time it moves it has to move excactly the same distance everytime. All help is very much appreciated note; i cant use a sequencer i need it to move once a task has been completed at each stage.... | 2011-05-12 03:14:00 Author: littlebigveteran Posts: 69 |
There is several ways this can be done. Here's an easy one. Try an advanced mover with acceleration and deceleration all the way up. Activate a timer set to count down which activates the mover for that amount of time. Adjust the mover's speed and the length of the timer to get the desired effect. | 2011-05-12 03:50:00 Author: riverad08 Posts: 104 |
use followers to detect tags and emit the tags and when the tag is in range have it be distroyed. | 2011-05-12 04:17:00 Author: WESFUN Posts: 1336 |
followers and tags r a great idea but its not necessary to emit them...just wire the criteria to turn it on. O_O | 2011-05-12 04:31:00 Author: Unknown User |
theese are both great ideas i think il try them both out and see which works best thanks | 2011-05-12 04:31:00 Author: littlebigveteran Posts: 69 |
No problem glad to help. | 2011-05-12 13:10:00 Author: WESFUN Posts: 1336 |
I'd go with a solution based on the tags/followers suggestion above: Put a bunch of tags in your elevator shaft: one for each floor, labeled with that floor number. Then put a selector on your main logic chip (the controlinator). Place a follower for every floor you have, set it to correspond with that floor's tag, adjust speed, acc and dec. Now, set the selector to the number of floors you have and wire each output of it to its corresponding follower. Now, all you will need to do is make an elevator control panel of some kind. You can make the elevator go to a floor when you activate a channel of the selector. Don't forget a gyroscope to keep your elevator straight. | 2011-05-12 13:50:00 Author: Antikris Posts: 1340 |
okay so i played around with some ideas from above and i have definatly found something that works. i used the follower idea with some tags and although i could have wired them i used the emit idea with a key on some holographic material. This way i found that i only had to have one key sensor and that when one was destroyed it would just move up to the next one. Because i have alot of other logic in the level this was the probably my favourite as not to confuse even more crossed wires. Thanks again everyone most appreciated | 2011-05-12 17:00:00 Author: littlebigveteran Posts: 69 |
You don't need to emit keys anymore like in lbp1. You can put a wire in the tag and activate them to your convenience. Small caveat: tag sensors will not respond to tags that are on the same chip (either directly or nested). | 2011-05-12 17:09:00 Author: Antikris Posts: 1340 |
oh so u can wire the tags aswell as sensors? thats pretty neat | 2011-05-12 22:55:00 Author: littlebigveteran Posts: 69 |
Actually you can use a sequencer. All you'd need to do is wire a set of switches to a set of batteries with different percentage values, then wire them to the sequencer via an OR gate, and set the sequencer to positional. | 2011-05-13 02:05:00 Author: xero Posts: 2419 |
