being able to not only rotate objects on the z axis but also on the x and y axis | 2011-05-11 06:07:00 Author: Unknown User |
I always though this would be cool. Especially if you could change it to where the camera is parallel to the ground and the controls were changed to (left & right to change layers and up and down to move back and fourth... but I guess that might me odd with how the sackboy would be facing right all the time.. I hate that in movies.. everyone sidesteps. | 2011-05-11 07:10:00 Author: Dortr Posts: 548 |
I think you have it backwards unless i misunderstood you. The zenith axis is the 3rd dimesional plain (stretching out into the distance relitive to the stationary camera), so isn't the rotation your wanting to achieve the z axis, not the x and the y? btw i like how both of you mentioned a glitch that alread exists. Rotating objects in the z axis can be done, however only with lbp objects. (no material) and it looks really weird. And a camera that is parallel to the ground exists, and it turns face the direction the player is in. and controls can be overwritten to have left and right to change dimension. However like you said, it looks weird when you see sackboy, as he is always facing left or right(depending what direction your moving in) and objects fog in the distance like thee 3d cam. | 2011-05-11 07:23:00 Author: ShadowTyphoon Posts: 80 |
you have misunderstood. you r correct that the z axis is the 3rd dimension extending into the distance but this is infact the only axis in which objects will rotate. take a square for instance view from front view the center of the square is where it will rotate (which is a rotation on the z axis). another way to look at this would be to picture a front load dryer... what i would like to see is rotation on the x axis like a tornado and the y axis like a barrel roll | 2011-05-11 07:54:00 Author: Unknown User |
I see, i was looking at if from a dif perspective but still understood you. As there is no way to continually rotate objects along the x axis in real time, there is a glitch that lets u angle abjects slightly about 45 degrees counterclockwise along the y axis. I know this isnt what your suggesting, but i just thought id mention it just in case you ever wanted to kno. | 2011-05-11 08:03:00 Author: ShadowTyphoon Posts: 80 |
r u refering to the jet pack glitch?? i just mean to want a more advanced rotator...so that games like rubiks could be physical instead of everything being simd with holos...other amazing applications for this type of rotation r feasible...lets make this a reality. | 2011-05-11 08:12:00 Author: Unknown User |
I just wish you could make angles or "stairs" along the z axis... i think. Like top down ramps and stairs... is this possible in any way? | 2011-05-11 09:58:00 Author: Dortr Posts: 548 |
yeah top down stairs can be made just by overlapping dimensions over eachother that just extend closer to the screen progressively, is that what you mean? like place a thin in the furthest back dimension, then move an inch up and place a single thick in the furthest back dimension, then move up and inch and place a thin in the second to last dimesnion etc. however this would look weird becuase the steps wont be proportional, cuz it would jump from thin to think step, to another thin. Only way to fix that is to use the thin-thick glitch. Its basically a new layer in between thin and thick for each dimension. As for the top down ramp, it is possible but requires the jet pack glitch, and u can only do it to lbp objects. so glitch a flat lbp object then color over it so it looks like the ground and not a calculator or w.e u may use. | 2011-05-11 10:34:00 Author: ShadowTyphoon Posts: 80 |
This is needed when making a top down waterfall for example. | 2011-05-11 10:40:00 Author: Willman4 Posts: 170 |
I can only assume he's talking about something like this. http://www.math.union.edu/software/StageTools/StageManager/Samples/simple/cube.gif | 2011-05-11 12:37:00 Author: lemurboy12 Posts: 842 |
I can only assume he's talking about something like this. http://www.math.union.edu/software/StageTools/StageManager/Samples/simple/cube.gif exactly like this but also on the y axis | 2011-05-11 17:57:00 Author: Unknown User |
well problem is collision physics, they are flat as the layers so everything need to be flat, or else it would look buggy | 2011-05-12 13:24:00 Author: Shadowriver Posts: 3991 |
but collision physics could be fixed with the rotation...im not saying in a patch...probably lbp3 | 2011-05-12 18:32:00 Author: Unknown User |
Lol i keep seeing this gimicky "LBP3..D" idea in my head especially if sony can make 3D TVs that do not give people headaches | 2011-05-12 18:52:00 Author: Dortr Posts: 548 |
I know this isn't exactly what you had in mind, but there are creative ways around our "limitations" in LBP create mode... http://db.tt/ITCb5d7 | 2011-06-02 23:39:00 Author: Unknown User |
Wait, how did you make that shape? | 2011-06-03 20:06:00 Author: lemurboy12 Posts: 842 |
I've been messing around with a lot of the decorations lately and came up with a neat little trick. Decoration + custom stickered holograms + "invisible rubber" = cool effect I have more of this technique in my upcoming level. | 2011-06-03 23:14:00 Author: Unknown User |
Can you please make a tutorial on how to do that? I've been trying to make shapes like that since LBP1. | 2011-06-04 20:11:00 Author: lemurboy12 Posts: 842 |
When I get the time, I'll try to get a tutorial up for everyone. | 2011-06-05 18:47:00 Author: Unknown User |
This isn't the tutorial I promised but I'm still planning on writing that one up soon. I came up with this idea the other day when creating more props like that portal button I posted a while ago. It's a Create Mode Camera Tool that is perfect for putting fine detail into your levels. Here's the link to that tutorial https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=58284-L2-Camera-Tool And my level link for the tool http://lbp.me/v/1b70mc | 2011-06-15 20:27:00 Author: Unknown User |
