Improvisation #1. Art, Music, and Platforming as one.

This is my first level that I put through the level design process I've outlined on my blog (http://critical-gaming.squarespace.com/blog/2008/11/24/improvisation-1.html).

Wow! That certainly was an interesting level. The use of music notes everywhere was really quite charming. It looks like you were somehow thrown into some abstract painting.

The only issue I have is that it's a little hard to figure out where exactly you need to go. The map is a nice idea, but it doesn't really help much when you don't know where to go.

Thanks.

The cameras throughout the level are angled and zoomed to point the player in the direction they need to go next and show the next object/platform the player needs to interact with.

Which area(s) did you have problems figuring out where to go?

Very interesting and original level. Unfortunatly, it's littered with playability issues and it was a nightmare to navigate with 3 players.2008-12-07 01:08:00

The level is designed for 1-2 players. In order to play with more, you have to be good at platforming as a group, which is harder than it may seem.

Were your playability issues only with 3 players? Can you be specific?

Well player 3 left pretty sharpish as they had no patience at all. But we still faced some issues in 2 player mostly due to some jumps being slightly out of easy reach and the camera zooming off leaving the other player behind. My level suffers from the exact same thing and I realise there's nothing you can do to fix that.

I hope they upgrade the camera control/options. Split screen or even let each PS3 have their own screen. Either way would be great.
