What do you hope MM has been up to?

Archive: 58 posts

So, I was wandering what MM has been up to during the down time.

Not sure if they still have access to published levels, and when we got back, we had about 20 more great MM Picks.

I'm hoping since they haven't been busy with things like moderating, dealing with new game busting glitches etc., that they've had time to get some good patches done.

I wouldn't mind a "I survived the PSN outage T-shirt".

What do you guys hope they have been working on?

Hopefully fixes for some of the various glitches like the issue with how a controlinator set to closest player doesn't work properly or how joining people can sometimes cause the loading screen to rapidly flash.

I'm also hoping for some DLC

Wasnt there supposes to be some Tron DLC released around now? Hopefully, that is waiting for us.

I'm hoping they have had time to fix the level link issue, that breaks players up. That issue kills multiplayer for this game, which is kind if a huge deal.

The TRON DLC is already out, you get it for free by pre-ordering the game (I got a code for pre ordering and the code activates the tron full costume dlc)2011-05-08 17:17:00

BUG FIXES!! above all, especially the horrendous loading screen issue, level links kicking players out, and lots of switch settings not actually working. There are many, many more of course. I don't want any new DLC at all until we've had a proper patch that actually fixes lots of these issues.2011-05-08 17:44:00

I'm referring to actual Tron DLC, not the one that came from doing a ore-order. It will have a new costume (not the Clu version), and will have stickers etc. Last rumor I heard was May 5th for release.

HA it's spelled 'spelled.'
HA it's spelt 'spelt' in the UK. Which makes it right. Since we kinda invented the language. So neither of you were right.

Well since the Move Jam was a few days ago, I'm just thinking that they spent a lot of time just making sure the Move pack had no glitches or anything.

That would be a huge disappointment if that's all they managed to get done with all this down time. I assume since they aren't having to deal with good grief reports and new glitches popping up that they finally have some breathing room to be more focused on fixes glitches, etc. At least, I hope so.

I know Sony is talking about "freebies", if that means something like a couple of dollars in PSN bucks, that'd be cool, I could use a new costume. Doubt that would happen though.

I'm also waiting for them to fix those ugly bugs plaguing the game. But a new level pack would be nice to see. ^^

I'm looking forward to the Killzone 3 costumes too which were to be released sometime in May, but it might be too early to expect it on the store when PSN comes back on.

I hope they fixed many bugs (which i doubt), and hopefully increased overall fps by optimising code. (which I highly doubt)

Well, that's cool, too bad they don't give you a better break down. So, I guess we will be able to get it when the PSN store comes back online,.. I hope.

Ha Hana, I heard that Sony offered to insure EVERY USER up to 1 million USD. I thought that was ridiculous until I saw their net worth of 78 BILLION USD!!! That made me sad that they couldn't have spent more on their security in the first place if they had that much money... Anyways they must be pretty confident if they propose something like that. Plus a free month of + wont really cost them anything.

Also the Tron DLC looks so worth it, I'm totally geting that ASAP!

but lol..."Download this costume pack today and dress up your Sackboy to look like your favorite characters from Tron: Evolution" YAY!...can't today..

The first PS Store update once PSN goes back up, it would be cool to see two or three new DLC packs thrown in. One thing I'm waiting for is for Mm to release the first groundbreaking patch for LBP2. Like how 1.21 for LBP1 was. I also think it would be really neat if Mm announced the next BIG DLC pack, say a week or two after the Move pack is released. I mean something like Creator Pack 2, or Music Sequencer Pack 1. These are more future ideas though.2011-05-09 04:30:00

They should be working on the ability to have a maximum of around 25 players on a single level at a time. 4 on one PS3 though, still, for many reasons. Just think of the abilities you could have on here! Maybe even an MO if this were combined with the "Cookie Switch" I believe I posted about last year.2011-05-13 03:06:00

I couldn't agree with you more, Shadowriver. I still consider the word noob/n00b to mean "annoying newbie" though, but the word itself annoys me.

It's probable that we were all newbs/n00bs at one point in our lives...

I hope MM will release some extra creator tools and/or extend the ones already there...

memory object that can store a collection of analog signals or counters across linked levels
maybe even some kind of storage that is kept behind the screens in ones player profile on a per level basis, enabling "save games" in custom levels
bug fixes on the music sequencer (lag), new instruments, tools to set a custom loop point, different steps, smaller pattern segments
tools like the grapple hook enabled for sackbots
more material tweaker options for sackbots, like invulnerability
logic objects to more easily add, subtract, multiply and divide values/analog signals
3D layer editing tool
having the popit remember the sticker/decoration I selected before I did an Undo
game camera bugs fixed, like when you rotate it slightly tilted with Local setting on

yes, VERY YES!

im always a fan of custom music in levels(if they tryed to make some good music) , and even put my jaw down if they do everything in the level without help.
i think they should add real instuments to the list of music parts you can put in, like orcastra parts (violin, viola, and bass violin) and band parts (claranets, flutes, and saxiphone)
if they already have some of these, im mainly a player in the lbp universe, so dont blame me

A patch to fix all the bugs and broken functions? TBH, I don't expect to see any more patches from Mm now. We all bought the game and we're alll playing it in spite of the bugs and glitches, so why waste valuable time and resources on endeavours that bring no financial return? If it was worth a developer's time to fix a broken game after millions of gamers have already paid for it, then Fallout: New Vegas wouldn't be the horrid, unplayable mess that it still is.

As for DLC...I expect there's plenty of that left to come because it makes mo' moolah for Sony. A Disney-themed pack will be on its' way, at a guess

I disagree. MM makes money off of DLC. The more people (still) play LBP, the more DLC sold. It is no secret that LBP's greatest replay value lies in the community and the custom levels people make. To invest in the creator community will yield constant supply of new, better and more easily made levels.

I disagree in return. Who do you know who stopped playing lbp2 because the sound cuts out sometimes or because the local camera setting doesnt work as it should? That's right...nobody. Despite the bugs we all continue to play, and to pay for new DLC, so why bother to fix em?

Well the history of bugfix patches for LBP1 kinda annihilates your argument there. And if I really wanted to get snarky about it I'd point out that Blizzard is still releasing patches for Diablo 2, how many years later?

Sadly, I think you're absolutely right about Disney DLC. Blech. I want, as I've already said,, original DLC. I want to see level ideas that were left on the cutting room floor. I want to see what the devs make in their spare time. I want to see DLC themed around extant story levels. Factory of a Better Tomorrow alone could spark several sets of 5-level DLC packs; clearly the Factory makes all sorts of stuff that Craftworld uses.

I have a racing level in the works that I have quit working on due to the camera issue. Right now I make custom music through which I have run into various bugs that make me pretty disenchanted with the music making process in LBP2. I am pretty excited about creating but give me a few more of those obstacles that cut into the expectations the game instilled in me - and no outlook for improvements by MM - and I will surely spend more time in other games.

And I am not having unreasonable expectations either; they are bugs that prevent stuff from working as intended with no fix or workaround. They are not demands for new features.

Well luckily MM do care enough about us to fix bugs and give us patches even if they don't
fix the bugs we wanted always. And yeah i've seen people quit LBP because it was to buggy for their liking.
Even I at times feel really down when half the Costume ideas i want to make are ruined
by the Decoration Render Bug. So yeah i expect MM to fix bugs as they care about us...
at least enough (>.>) I'm just hoping LBP3 won't be a rush job and they wait for PS4 too before they even try.

also from some things i hear, by the time the move pack is out,
there will be a nice set of bug fixes mix in with them ;p *mew

But anyways.
I hope for, they been working on many bug fixes, And useful non junk costumes...
And a creator pack 2. *mew

Er, they'd have to get rid of lag for that. Which, I am guessing, is more of a Sony-level issue.

I'm going to agree with this, 1.03 after 6 months, plus the BETA, doesn't seem to have done much. I reported on GetSatisfaction about an issue I had with magic mouths, and they said they've added it to the database. I got it today, but even worse, it wouldn't go away, even in my Pod, meaning I couldn't leave My Moon because that requires Circle, which lost it's priority to the endless stream of Magic Mouths. Sigh.

Still, at least theres a Move pack, right?

And we were already told When people were testing the move pack at the con
there were a nice hand full of bug fixes i believe.
