Long distance wireless transmitters

This is just a random idea I got that might be useful. What if there was an object called a wireless transmitter that can transmit a signal between level links. So if a signal is activated in one part of a level, it will come out on the other side of the level link. So say you make a button that toggles a signal. You then hook the output to one of the transmitter's ports. In the linked level, you then take the corresponding port on the reciever and hook it up to a light. So now when you push the button and go through the link, the light in the linked level will be on. If you don't push the button, it will be off. This might be useful for long RPGs so you can keep your progress through the link.2011-05-07 02:28:00

It sounds like quite a good idea - although it could cause quite a lot of lag since the output has to trigger in a whole different level. Or do you mean it gets ready to trigger once you enter the level?

Maybe you could choose a tag colour and label for a wireless transmitter, and then go to the other level with a wireless reciever and enter the same tag and colour, as not to mix them up if there's more than one. Also, maybe you could have an input for the transmitter, and an output for the reciever. It may be a little hassley testing them in play mode though.

You can actually do this sorta stuff already, by using sub levels because when entering a sub level your score transfers. watch these tutorials (http://www.youtube.com/lbplanetorials#p/u/9/pLF_GsQmPdU) to find out more about wireless transmitting/data transfer.

although i do agree that it would be very useful to have some sort of data transfer without score since that means you cant use bubbles in a level. maybe your idea could be part of the "cookies" tool that has been suggested. (search back in LBPC's LBP2 Suggestions threads)
