Force Field

I think Mm should introduce a force field tool which you can set so it lets only certain things through e.g- Lets sackboy through but not his push along sponge.

You could make it visible or non-visible and it could also let a certain player through and not the other e.g- Sackboy1 gets through and has to disable the Force Field for Sackboy2 to get through.

It would look like the force fields in starwars.

This actually sounds like a really neat idea. Being able to get certain things through it, but having to disable the force field for a player or a very important item that can't just pass through it.

Though I think it'd be a rather one thing deal, wouldn't it? There wouldn't be much else to use it for but as a hindrance.

if it also had the option to be invisible, and could exist in the same space as other objects, like holo can, people who make new game types/genres could exploit it to create more complex collision systems, which would make some frequently needed things a lot easier, and open up new gameplay possibilities.

Selective collision is a super common thing in games and the current tools, while they're capable of achieving it in some circumstances, often feel pretty awkward in their implementation.

Great idea!




(If the above is a bit confusing: you can basically do this with different mixtures of holo, collision detectors, movers, followers, and tags, but in that case you're always moving things and not really stopping them with an invisible wall. The ability to actually have a solid, invisible thing, which doesn't run into other stuff you don't want it to -- like invisible glitched material does -- is what could be an extremely useful tool, to me.)

What if it had the new secret wires like on the race gates? You would link the wires to objects that would go boom when going through.

Like the Aperture Science Material Emancipation Grid...

That's really easy, actually. Just put the holo where you need it, put a tag on it, and when the item you don't want to go through impacts that holo, it destroys itself.

Good idea though, I suppose. Just can be done rather easily now anyways.
