How do I make a Sinking Ship?

Archive: 6 posts

I've seen it being done lots of times on LBP, but I don't know how. Can anyone help me?2011-05-05 18:36:00

You can either set the water level high, and have a mover slowly moving it down, or maybe there's a way to slowly raise the water level.2011-05-05 18:46:00

You could just use bombs to blow up the ship with sackfolk on it instead of sinking it.
It contains much more perfection (lol what am I saying?)

Yeah like Bran said, use a mover to push it down

A mover would work, but it won't look as natural.

You can use a material tweaker. You'll need to hook something up to it to activate it, but there is a setting on the tweaker for "zero buoyancy." You need to turn that on. Once you do, the ship will sink! (if you don't have it hooked up to something to turn it on, the ship will just sink...)

If you want it to sink in a certain way, you can split the ship into two pieces, then use rods (not glue) to hook it together. So for example, if you want the front half to sink first, you'll activate the front part's material tweaker first, then the back.

Set this up in a sequencer to ramp down the buoyancy so it'll sink slowly... then, something else breaks, you rotate the ship a little so it starts to tilt, and is slowly it sinks faster as things get worse, maybe use a material tweaker to drop the friction on the deck the same way so the band slides past when it gets really bad.

Don't forget that you should be able to use a gyroscope to get it to up-end. rotators may be more difficult.2011-05-06 09:33:00
