Create Mode Timer (Display Total Minutes in Create)

Archive: 17 posts

Hey there.

You may know me as creating the first topdown GTA for lbp1 i get alot of msgs asking me how long my levels take to make but the thing is i dont know my self, My last but not least level 3D Snowboarding Survival Challage exceeded 20hrs or more but i will never know for sure i know GTA took alot longer than that lol.

Have you ever been curious how long your spending in create mode? And if possible have a timer intergrated into the game so when publishing your level you have this as an option to display to the community?

I my self would like MM to do this i think it would be nice idea to see how long these levels take to create and will also make the game more fair. thanks for your time, whats your thoughts?

I'm actually kinda afraid to see how long i spend in create. I might feel bad, get up and actually do something with my life! Nah, I think il stick to NOT knowing XD

BTW special_d_, I always have respect for you... Didn't mean to offend you on the last comment i posted on your lbp2 profile cause i noticed you deleted it. I was just trying to portray the classiness of your lbp1 lvls in comparison to the more "safe" approuch uve had on the newer ones.

Anyway, noticed you hearted me, so thx for everything and keep up the fantastic work.

haha very true to be honest i would rather not know myself lol.

Regarding to your lbp message dont worry about it buddy the thing is i had not long come back to lbp after 6 months so evrything is new to me the safe approach is "at the moment" more to do with teaching my self logic as i did in lbp1 with the very 1st pong level and untill this day its has been untouchable and confused many creators.

I have successfully finished series of the very 1st sacks skateboard adventure which covers all concepts of logic and even though its a begining no one at the moment seems to be able to figure out how i made it so hopefully now that i have learned all aspects of logic i can begin to push lbp2 to the next level as you may of noticed with my 3D survival series.

I hope you enjoyed reading this and had a better insight of my work, Many Thanks.

Comishguy67 made one and gave it to me. Ask him if you can have one too!

P.S. This is more suited to the "LBP2 Suggestions" forums as apposed to "General Chat."

lol I guess you could use a created timer the only thing though when you pause it will stop lol unless comish has created a magic one of course well then thats a diffrent story XD2011-05-05 14:15:00

Oh yeah, didn't think of that! xD

Comish designed his timer for seeing how long songs were and sadly they do stop in pause mode.

Maybe note down when you start a level to when you finish it and work out on average how much time you spent each day? Whenever people asked me how long it took to make a level, I usually replied "As long as it takes."

Doesnt the time-spent-in-create pin tell you how much time you spent? Unless it only goes to the maxminum amount on the fifth pin... but it might keep going, like soem othere pins.2011-05-05 15:43:00

Before the game got released, i actually thought that was going to be a new feature added.

It would be good if MM did add this at a later date. Even expand the create pins further.

I passed the 7500 minutes of create, after only making a level and a half.

Another idea would be to show on a published level how many minutes it took to create.
MM could display it inside the info section, under the how many times played/ and completed text.

I spend to long making a level, so i want to see the numbers lol. Even if it hurts.

Bite your tongue! Obviously you are not married, or you would know that is the last feature you would want added. 2011-05-06 02:35:00

I think that's a great idea! I would love to see how long it has taken me to make some of my stuff, also the idea of having it in the publishing info sounds cool too, but that might encourage people to sit in create with their PS3 on just to make it look like they made a good level. That could result in a pandemic of 160 hour bugs and frozen PS3's but big whoop, but big deal haha.

But I like your thinkin' special_d

Neh, i don't think something that tells you how long it took you
to create the level is needed. Also it be useless for me anyways,
as i create my level in pieces in different levels so that way i can test
everything without worry of it messing with something else. then when i get the part
done i take it and put it with the rest in the main level.

Many games keep track of time spent playing. I always wondered why LBP doesn't. I would love to know how much time I spend in LBP in general. I know it's far surpassed any other single game I've ever played.2011-05-07 02:19:00

Well there is a Pin that tells you how many hours you used creating in your moon all together.
and one that tells you how many hours you've used playing in story mode.

I thought the pin would be cool, but once they max out they stop counting. Don't they?

I don't think i would mind seeing how much time i spent making my level, i passed the 7,500 mark about 2 month ago, so its probably a bunch lol Its kinda depressing it took that long to figure out how to do my level exactly , but i never really played LBP1 or the LBP2 beta, so i don't feel like all those hours were a waste of time. I actually thought it would be cool if MM scrolled levels based on their creation times, so new creators--like me, can have their new levels played and at least make the cool pages. 2011-05-07 12:30:00
