Resettable Inputs in a Sequence

Archive: 4 posts

Hello Sack People!

Ok, the title of my thread may be a little confusing, so I'll try to clear things up.

I have a puzzle where you have to activate the inputs in a certain order in order to progress. Simple. No problem there. The real problem is that I want to reset the whole puzzle when the wrong input is pressed.

For example:

If the correct sequence is A B C D, you activate A, then B, then oops.... you activate B again. Silly you! After that, I want you to have to start over from A again. The same if you make a mistake at any point.

This is what I have so far:

The colours of the inputs are just a visual aid for me. All of the blocks are counters set to 1. As you may be able to see, the order is blue, green, yellow, red.

Here's what I tried (which failed).

Each of the top counters is connected to a 2-port AND switch. Connected to the other port is an 3-port OR switch. Connected to that are all the inputs that I want to reset the puzzle. eg for the first step (after activating BLUE), the inputs would be BLUE, RED, YELLOW (since GREEN is the one I want to work). The AND switch is then connected to each of the previous top 6 counters, another OR switch (to allow that counter to reset if either of the next to inputs are "failed").

This may all sound quite confusing. But if anyone has any idea of how to do this, please tell me. I don't mind it if it means scrapping the logic I gave in the pic and doing it a different way, if needs be.

Thanks.

Wow. Thanks for pointing me in that direction. Just watched tutorial 11, was exactly what I wanted. Will check out the other tutorials later.

I usually like figuring out things on my own, using tutorials is a last resort, but it's nice to know that they're there if I need them.

I know what you mean, I'm the same way. I just like the way those tutorials are presented. He actually explains the whole process and why he is doing certain things instead of others. It really helps to get a better grasp on logic in general.
