Has anyone tried making...

a Crysis 2 level in LittleBigPlanet 2?

The only ones I've seen are from LBP1 and don't utilize any of LBP2's advanced logic or sackbot features.

I've tried making a "switching" sackbot system but ultimately failed due to my lack of experience with LBP2 and its logic systems. Maybe someone else could take up this project?

Also, a known issue is that Sackbots cannot enter water. This is the reason I chose Crysis 2's urban settings as opposed to the island in the original Crysis. Any scenes involving water will be hazardous such as electric wires hanging in the water or toxic sewer levels.

And also the new shadow/lighting effects (combined with the 3D glitch) could really give the game a cinematic look resembling the Crysis games.

Using Custom music it might be possible to create a rendition of the Crysis 2 theme as well:

And perhaps the sackboy could look something like this??:

I think the MotorStorm helmet would work for the mask, or maybe the Tron outfits.

Good idea, i like how you are thinking about the LBP2 tools and trying to relate them to your idea. I dont think there are any LBP2 Crysis levels.2011-05-03 19:28:00

Hmm, thing is about side scroller is that you can't get much exploration in, if you get me? there are the limits of the 3 layers also.

Differnt suits would use selectors and emitters of sackbotsd with different abilities with the same tag of control on them. Quite simple if you can figure out how to get one at each time..

Quite simple if you can figure out how to get one at each time..Yes it will be mainly linear, but that's where the suit comes in. The suit gives you options so far as what approach you take. You can sneak past the patrolling guards, or go at them guns blazing, or throw an explosive barrel at them, or whatever. it's your choice. Levels will have alot of verticality aswell, so you can move up/down as you please along buildings, streets, or sewers. If I decide to have multiple paths that could work in the same way too; that is, splitting up vertically. (all the paths leading to the same end)

I've had this idea for awhile now but I haven't got much time to implement it so I was hoping you could share your ideas/suggestions in order to speed the project along or maybe take it up yourselves if you like the prospect.

i like the idea very much and would love to help make your music, logic etc. but i've got a LOT on my plate, being part of LBCE is a toughy cos it takes up a lot of time but it's amazing. What would be so much better than just remaking Crysis 2 would be to completley make a new story, maybe with an entirely new character etc. so that you don't need to cram an entire game into a level, you can start from scratch so nobody can say, "oh. you forgot this etc." it would also allow you to use your imagination with powerups etc.

i started to make one topdown tho. then it changed to a stealth game
L2 was armour mode
R2 was stealth mode
you could tap up on the d-pad to look around the map ( Tactical mode)

I wonder how you are going to do the visuals because in the game they are state of the art.Well LBP2 already has pretty advanced lighting technology and effects; and I plan to have an element of destructibility (some objects will be comprised of smaller 'panels' or 'building blocks' which will break part when exploded or fired upon)

But yes this will be a big factor as far as level design. Authenticity is one of the many goals I have set. It would be cool to have a logo at the beginning with something like "Achieved with LBP2" as a parody to the CryEngine opening.

Also, what do you think of the name 'Crysack'?

nope, would be much simpler to use a selector to activate microchips which grant the different abilities. For instance, when speed mode is activated, the microchip is activated and grants the 150% sackbot speed, but when you switch the armor mode, you lose this behavior and switch to the regular 100% speed and enable creatinator, and emit a paintinator, ect. Would save you a butt-load of trouble in the long run.

Yes, i gathered that, but i wasn't just thinking about different abilities, i was also thinking about changing the suit aswell, so you have a visual response also. Your way does work, but will show no visual effect.2011-05-08 19:07:00
