Anyone else heard about this yet?
Seems like one hell of a game that I'm sure to be getting.

Ahh, I saw this on the Yogscast, looks very interesting.
It is quite similar to Minecraft - the world is blocky and the concept of crafting, building and mining is the same. 		2011-05-01 19:59:00

Yeah the whole crafting and building is rather similar to Minecraft but has this whole other feel to it. Then you see all the epic bosses and other various things within the game, it's just something so awesome.

It is now out on steam ! I would recommend this to anyone who is reading. In its simplest form it is like minecraft, but as you go up the equipment levels you will find terraria is a completely new and enjoyable experience in itself.2011-05-16 23:02:00

Been trying to buy the game for about a whole day now.
Been getting a message saying "there was an internal error while processing your purchase", or something similar to that.

Sage and I had problems getting a server running too. Here's what we did (stating the obvious just in case btw):

Port: 31337
TCP/UDP: UDP

Then we had to use Hamachi, Then yesterday I couldn't connect. Turns out Window Firewall got turned on and wouldn't let me. Hope this helps! 		2011-05-18 13:00:00

Any one else encountered fire imps? They caught me off guard and killed me, I only lost a little bit of gold but the trouble is that it takes ages to get down as deep as I was around 3000 feet below. This game is freaking awesome. I bought it yesterday and I'm completely addicted already. I like it a lot more than Minecraft which I have also played quite a lot. I feel like it just expands the concept of MC and adds new things to it, making it more like an RPG game. I love the constant feel of progression I'm having. Now I've found a massive underground cave complex and I'm so excited about exploring it more and more. Can't wait to find accessories, bosses etc!

If anyone is not sure about getting this, I'd definitely recommend it. Especially if you like Minecraft, platformers and exploration type games.		2011-05-19 20:45:00

I just bought it. Tried single player a bit and I find it cool so far. Tried joining a server but the game crashed. Three times. I read something about changing your windows 7 language to english to fix it but I'd rather wait for patches.2011-05-21 14:04:00

I've read various comments on different boards and it seems that a lot of people use the program "Hamachi" to connect to each other. I downloaded it and installed it. It's super easy to use. Simulates a LAN.2011-05-22 10:19:00

Still not working, and I've tried all the buttons. I'm 100% positive I'm online on Hamachi, Terraria keeps telling me no one is responding when I try to join.

Everyone has a Public RSA Key. And I tried again, doesn't work. And I see everyone on my screen has an IP Address. I think it's on your end, maybe you have to refresh the Hamachi Server.		2011-05-24 04:56:00

Merc, and for everyone else who's having trouble joining his server, here's what I believe is the solution:

Merc should kick and delete everyone who can't join the server from his Hamachi network. Then have them rejoin the network, and attempt to join the server.

I had the same problem with my friends. One could get on fine, while the other couldn't. She appeared offline even though she was online or she had a relayed tunnel. But once I kicked her from my network and had her rejoin, it worked.		2011-05-24 11:33:00

So, before I buy it(since apparently its not for Mac) how does the game run on good/bad computers? Because I ran Maplestory on my PC once at it was fine, would you say that Terraria doesn't require alot of effort on your PC's behalf?

I have both If your more interested in working with a 3D environment and a crafting things like mine cart systems and building houses in 3D, then minecraft. Terraria undoubtedly the best choice if you are more interested in a RPG action adventure game. While minecraft is very much focused on mining a lot and building a lot, Terraria is very much focused on obtaining and upgrading gear so that you may move on to the next of many different environments that inhabit every map. Not to say that you can't build, in fact you may find yourself more tempted to build great things due to the simpler 2D style and the number of building materials you can craft. Again though, the main pull is the large armory of powerful and diverse gear that is already in the game from launch I recommend looking at the wiki to see if it is your sort of game. http://wiki.terrariaonline.com/Terraria_Wiki2011-05-25 01:44:00

It's really quite simple. Just hit network on the main page then hit create a new network and enter the server name and password. Easy.

It isn't as CPU intensive as Minecraft, since Minecraft is a Java based game.

Keep the Flippers, aaaand the horeshoe if you realy want to, but get rid of the Molten Armour. Once you get that, you've beaten the game :/
You take at the most like, 4 damage. Takes out the fun of having to deal with slimes as you try to chop down one, small, friggin tree.		2011-05-25 14:01:00

I don't think you would be excited about Blood Moons if you had beaten the game. Just throw the armor away and you'll be playing the game for a lot longer. After collecting the best armour as well as most weapons, I found that the only thing that was left to do is to just build an epic structure of some sort.

Terraria's phaseblades are awesome!

terraria must hate me o_o. Today I had a back to back blood moon, then I went out to raid some chasms and just as I get to corruption a random Eye of Cuthulu event goes off >_< so I mirror back to my place to fight him on my own terms but he doesn't follow >_< Now Im running back to the corruption AGAIN and the first orb I break gives me Vile thorn, which I already have >_<! To top it off Eater of Worlds doesn't like me breaking his orbs :/ Now I'm rushing up a chasm with this guy shooting in and out of it, fight him for a while till hes 3 pretty short segments but die, finished him off back home after accidentally throwing a bomb in my own house XD. Then night falls and guess what? Blood moon, yay >_<

Ide say, bone serpents take seconds to kill, ANY worm or large boss doesn't stand a chance. It may not be the best but it is light years ahead of my War-axe, which was light years ahead of my silver broadsword Now I'm working on upgrading my ranged to molten-fury. Then its off to the dungeon I would say I love how terraria's tier system is staggered so that each time you get something better it isnt only slightly better and hardly worth the effort.

You don't find armor though. All armor sets are either crafted or dropped. To break the mold for one set is a bit odd. Also, there are only a few islands per map, you would have to generate many maps and search every island to get a full set. Once again, it also does not match the theme, which is why it was replaced in the first place. Once they think of a area that fits it, it will be back.2011-06-08 05:08:00

Horseshoe (prevents fall damage, you're pretty high up)

Hey guys, I just got a full set of shadow armor!

I keep running into that giant worm, I break 3 of those orbs and he appears, luckily I got a ball o pain and a vilethorn thing, those really help.

Killing him solo is realllly hard even if you do have the best equipment in the game, you're going to need friends and a bed close to him to have any hope of bringing him down.		2011-06-11 04:12:00

Well, You're wrong about him being realllly hard alone. I took the time to open the back of the dungeon up, and flatten out the land behind it, then i got all my potions ready, and fought him, if you keep moving, and use the phaseblade, it's a bit easier. By some miracle of raptorjesus, I killed him with only 1 potion left and 2 hearts. On my way in the dungeon I found... 4 cloud in a bottle, muramasa, and a butload of those water candle things!
Oh, and If anyone has a server for me to play on, i got some items i don't need, like a phaseblade... A shadow helmet and chest, a bunch of cloud in a bottle's... a lucky horseshoe, and I guess my whoopie cushion.

Yea, it also has to do with sitting at the furthest patch of dirt away from spawn. It increases spawn rates the further you are.

1.05 Update

NPCs

New Enemy - Lava slime, this enemy leaves behind lava on death
New Enemy - Hellbat
New Enemy - Demon
New Enemy - Jellyfish (Two variations, Pink and Blue)
New Enemy - Shark
New Enemy - Vulture
New Enemy - Crab
New Enemy - Antlion
Changed the way worm enemies spawn.
Bats, Hornets, and Eyeballs no longer enter water.
Slimes now float in water.
Only one giant slime will appear at a time.
The Guide now seems quite knowledgeable in what an item can be made into if you show it to him.
NPC shops now sell some items on certain nights, or after certain events.
Devourers should no longer gain random other enemies as its head.
The Nurse now charges the correct amount for healing.
Bats now have a death sound effect.
Talking to the old man at night will give the player a warning now before summoning the dungeon boss.
Entering the dungeon before defeating Skeletron now spawns a new NPC instead of Skeletron’s head. This should fix several issues with that event.
Enemy coin drops have been adjusted.
Man Eaters and Snatchers are no longer effected by knockback and can attack through walls.
Eater of Souls’ and Hornet AI has been improved.
Enemies now take up different amount of *slots* depending on AI style and strength. This will help balance conditions when there are lots of strong monsters spawned at once, such as Imps and Bone Serpents.
Fish are no longer upside-down when out of water.
Green slimes have been weakend so that start players can deal with them more easily.
Slimes and Flying enemies no longer make a splash sound when hitting water.
Items of “Blue Rarity” or higher no longer burn up in lava.
Burning Skull has been renamed to Cursed Skull, and given different AI.
Enemy caster’s have had their rate of fire slowed down.
Meteor heads have less health, do more damage, and move slower.
There are now slight size variations to the Eater of Souls and the Angry Bones.
Skeletron has less defense and health.

Items

New Feature : Buffs activated by Using Potions. Right click a buff to remove it from yourself.
New Item : Hellfire Arrow.
New Item : Sandgun.
New Item : Guide Voodoo Doll.

The Silver Short swords recipe has been corrected, it is now craftable.
Torches and candles no longer work when wet.
Destroying a placed sign while you are reading it will no longer cause your character to become frozen.
Rocket boots no longer require mana. They will provide lift for 1 second and recharge every time the player touches the ground or uses grapple. Lift speed has been slightly increased to offset loss of long flights. This makes the boots more viable for caster Characters.
The explosion animation for bombs is now correctly displayed in multiplayer.
There is now a message pop-up when the player receives an item.
Filled Buckets may no longer be emptied into solid ground.
Pots in the underworld now have a chance to drop hellfire arrows.
Handgun and Phoenix Blaster have been reduced in size.
Lowered the knockback of Muramasa.
Reduced the damage of the Blue Moon.
Flintlock Pistol and Musket have increased damage.
Only normal trees drop acorns.
Falling sand clumps are no longer carried by magic missiles/flamelash.
Jungle armor is no longer a drop. It is a craftable set.
Magic Mirror now requires mana to be used.
Harpoon and Maces now correctly show the player’s arm animation.
The arms dealer will sell unholy arrows at night after the Eater of Worlds has been defeated.
Space Gun does more damage, but only penetrates 2 enemies.

Server

Spam detection is less aggressive.
Increase multiplayer security.
Fixed a bug that could crash the server when the max amount of clients are connected.
Added an option to enable additional cheat protection for servers.
Servers now hibernate when no players are connected.
Blood Moons now stop correctly if time is changed to day by the server.

Game Interface

Upon death, A more specific death message will appear for other players, so they know how you died.
The crafting and armor interface text will fade out when an item tooltip is in front of it.
The Hot Bar now shows the name of the selected item.
PVP now requires 5 seconds between Activation and Deactivation and visa versa to prevent PVP spam. The same cooldown is in effect for Team Changing as well.
Added hotkeys for quickly drinking healing, mana, and buff potions.The healing/mana potion you use is based on the same principle arrows are. Top-Left most item first. The buff potions are all used at once.
Holding right click on an empty space in the inventory will no longer make a sound effect as if something was there to be picked up.
Defense totals are now shown in your inventory.

World Gen

Tweaked the way sand is created during world gen. (Requires new world.)
Oceans are now slightly larger and generation layout has been improved. (Requires new world.)
Cactus now grow on sand.
Coral now grows in the ocean.
Chests can now spawn near the surface of the world. They will contain treasure that new players may find useful. (Requires new world.)
Chests and pots now contain loot based on the level they spawn in. (Requires new world.)
Gold chests will now spawn in some parts of the world. (Requires new world.)
Corrupt chasms have less of a chance to spawn on jungles. They also now have a cave connecting most of the chasms. (Requires new world.
Traces of demonite are created during world gen. (Requires new world.

What's included?

-39 new monsters, including 4 brand new bosses.
-Three new NPCs,
-222 new items, including 4 sets of armor, and 21 accessories.
-Weapons and accessories now have random conditions that improve their attributes. This can work both ways, however. Don't worry too much, as one of the new NPCs will allow you to reforge an item to change it's condition. (for a price)
-There is now a NPC housing interface. It's pretty simple, but allows full control over where your NPCs live, and it will even tell you if their living area is missing some of the requirements.
-New lighting system.
-Easier to build since you can place items straight from your inventory.
-New mechanic system (like pumps) allows you to create some interesting devices and traps.

Coming out December 1st (this Thursday!)

I just spent ages gathering adamantitemitedanamite (Whatever it is) and only had enough for the forge, leggings and a helmet.

Grrrr...I spent a long time making a luxurious castle inside a floating island. I made it habitable and placed all the npcs in it using the new housing system. So I save and exit and come back to see that all of my npcs are trying to get there by foot -_- Now all my poor, dumb, npcs are stuck in an artificial jungle I made. They will more than likely die D: They will then spawn at their home, but I am reading a lot of threads saying that npcs are having a hard time respawning/spawning D:2011-12-05 03:05:00

Terraria before you kill the Wall of Flesh: Well, that wasn't so hard, what's next?

Terraria after you kill the Wall of Flesh: HNNNNNNNNNNG THIS IS RIDICULOUS WHY IT SO HARD? GODDAMIT.

Honestly, before hand, the enemies have like 20 - 80 health, and then you kill the wall and everything has like 3x the health and 3x the damage, plus the fact that getting the best weapons and armour isn't even close to as easy as it was before.

What Merc said. At first Terraria was holding your hand, showing you all the cool stuff and helping you when needed. But as soon as you kill the Wall, it slaps you and says 'No! You thought that was the game? Skipping through fields of flowers? What were you thinking? No, this is Terraria!'

As long as you sign into your Steam account, you can download and play the game on any computer.

•Type your Router's IP into your URL bar
•Enter username and password (admin by default for both of them)
•Go to your ports
(I think the following is a tad different depending on the router)
•Application Name: terraria
•External Port: 7777
•Internal Port: 7777
•Protocol: Both
•Enter the To IP Address
-If you don't know this, click Start, type cmd into the search bar, then press enter. Then type in ipconfig and press enter
again. The IP by 'IPv4 Address' is the one you're looking for.

•Now, if it still doesn't work, let Terraria through Windows Firewall. If that doesn't work, disable Windows Firewall.
•Start the server
•Give Chuck your IP
-This is NOT the same one you used earlier. There are various sites that can help you find your IP. I personally use IP Chicken (http://ipchicken.com/).		2011-12-10 20:58:00
