LBPC (Little Big Planet Connected)

. Little Big Planet Connected .
ANYTHING IN BOLD IS IMPORTANT FACTS
Imagine this. You are walking down a hallway. But this is like no other hallway. Its perfectly clean. White roof, white walls, white floor. The temperature even seems perfect, with a small chill factor in it. But in this hallway something is different. Something very different indeed. It never ends! But then you notice on each side of the hallway there is doors...thousands of them! Suddenly you stop, and slowly open a door. All of a sudden in a explosion of sound, and smells wisk into the hallway. You fully open the door and you stand there stunned. A full tropical canopy sits inside, bugs are flying, birds are chirping, and then all of a sudden the ground shakes. It shakes. It shakes. And shakes. And out of the jungle comes a T-rex full steam towards you. You slam the door just as the dinosaur reaches it. You heart is pounding. But you open another door, and another, and another. They are all different!

That's because every little big planet player created them!

THAT'S RIGHT EVERYBODY ITS THIS IS GONNA GONNA CHANGE THE GAME!

So what is LBPC?!
Well everyone I'm pleased to say, "Whatever you want it to be!"

How is that!?
Because everyone is gonna have a chance to create their own doorway to their level!

Wait, what?
Let me explain further and the steps of this project. Players (a.k.a you) will be able asked/chosen/ or ask yourself to be spotlighted in this level You as creators will be allowed to create a room in this "hallway" that you get to decorate, create, and tell new players about your full level! Then if the players wish to play your level all they do is hit one button and the go directly to your level VIA level link!

So what do i get out of it?
Ha, glad you asked. LEVEL VIEWS OF COURSE! Simply put this will be a level where players get to find the next best, coolest levels around without searching through thousands of boring levels.

Cool so whats the process?
Simple of course! Like I said you will be asked, chosen, or you can ask yourself to make a "room." After that I take your room, throw it into the "hallway," and then upload a new version of LBPC to the universe. After that we wait and watch the flood gates open.

What else where there be?
Alot more! This won't just be a level linking game, it will have showboards, where we'll spotlight designers, artists, musicians, of the month! It will be a place where gamers will be able to connect with other gamers to explore these news levels! And with a search engine built inside the level, gamers will be able to search the archives of what levels are in LBPC for quick easy access, to show/play with their buddies. Artists & musicians you're not left out either! Inside LBPC well have a "lounge" area where gamers can hang out, view music (VIA another search engine/ or by random selection) and view art made in little big planet.

The possibilities are endless. It will take a while to become more and more popular. (Hopefully it will be show cased by Mm)
But if you, you the gamer and creator that is reading this right now, pitch in just a little it will grow into something amazing!

This sounds like a great idea, but don't level links take up a fair amount of space? And the use of different materials could be a potential thermodynamic hog. Just some things to take into consideration.

I'm on board with the idea, but I would definitely make the hallway a couple of levels long

Thinking about this, I'll probably have to make an illusion of some sorts. Where as the player moves left or right the hallway its self moves the opposite direction. This way, in theory at one time there shouldn't be more than a few doors. But a seen problem is if multiple players were in a hallway, one could reach the end and fall of off or die. But in some aspects yes this might have to have multiple levels, with level links to them. (so hallway continues just has to persay "Load")

For the overheating issue, I'm still pending on the size of these rooms, probably around 16x 16x. Maybe larger if the map did not move. But using multiple materials, should not be a problem. These previews of your levels shouldn't be TOO complicated. Overall most of what you guys put into your designs depends on how many or how the level flows.

Should be a fun ride and interesting journey.

I would like a door. I could also help in designing the level. Something with that futuristic clean look is difficult to pull off alone, and normally comes out to look noobish and rushed.2011-05-01 00:33:00

You could've just said you're making a multi-room contribution level.
Remember to set guidelines and how much thermo each should use, give out templates to the people who'll participate, and set a limit to how many can join, otehrwise it may end up with too many rooms that won't fit, very little rooms that take tons of thermo, or rooms that don't match in size and will end up looking rather odd when together/ doors may not align.

Hope that helps!

Of course, you could make multiple hallway levels for the overheating issue.

Count me in for a door!
