Camera soft pan transition in sequencer?

Archive: 5 posts

I am making a skate video on LBP 2 so I want the camera to follow a sackbot. Is there a way to do this in the sequencer with movie cameras?2011-04-30 14:05:00

I believe in a sequencer you can not add camera transitions. I believe that they are cut scenes.

To make a soft pan camera, take the cameras out of the sequencer and set a single camera to soft pan, then select the camera view in which the camera will end at. The pans go down in order, and the final slide will be what the camera is set at, which can be adjusted next to the zone. The best way is to have a timer linking to the camera, so it's in sync with the sequencer, and/or link various cameras together to create a chain.

Sorry I can't explain it better,

Hope this was of some use,

If you overlap the cameras on a sequencer, it will transition to the second camera for however long they are overlapped (make sure you tweak the second camera to soft pan). You don't actually put one camera over the other, but put one at the stop of the sequence and then another camera below that on the sequencer. But if you are trying to get the camera to follow a sackbot, this is not the easiest way.2011-04-30 14:54:00

I agree with RacingCreed. I never put cameras in my sequencer. I just line up the timings of other actions in the sequencer with the hold and transition time of the camera. Just remember that the transition and hold time are exclusive to each other, so the total time that your camera will be active is the sum of those two times.

If you really want to keep all your cameras on the sequencer, then you need to put an extra camera at the beginning at your starting point that will overlap with the "first" camera to create your transition. It's a lot easier to just make the cameras independent of the sequencer.

the best way to have the camera follow the sackbot is to use game cameras and have the player follow the sackbot. check out comphermc's tutorial here. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_6vi1JhVmBE)

I like using a sequencer in most cases. It's easier to create and time transitions, but one unique advantage is that you can also time sound effects and trigger logic at specific times to line up with what your camera is showing. My opening for Jumper, with sackbots and LOTS of sound ques and logic, was all on one big sequencer. You can check out the opening to my level through the YouTube link in my Sig to give you an idea of what I'm talking about.2011-04-30 16:46:00
