Artillery Cannon: movable AND retractble?

Archive: 7 posts

Hiya LBPC Community, just wondering about something. I'm sure that most of you have played Rzzg's (I think) Mighty Mite LBP tank level. On the back of his tank, there is a missile pod that is retractable and extendable. However, once extended, it can be aimed. When retracted, it automatically returns to it's original position whilst coming back down. Would anyone know how. To make such a thing? I'm willing to use LBP 1 or 2 technology.2011-04-29 21:17:00

It'll probably be a tag sensor based setup. There may be a tag sensor set on the tank itself and the tag at the end of the moveable arm. When this is activated perhaps the aiming logic is disabled and instead activates a gyroscope if the arm always returns to the same position. Once extended, the tag leaves the radius of the sensor and the aining logic activates whilst the gryoscope deactivates. I haven't seen the thing you're on about, but from what you described that setup should do the trick.2011-04-30 15:21:00

Amazing! I could probably activate the gyro with a toggle gate. I've found that since lbp2, mags are kinda unreliable. Thanks for the help!2011-04-30 19:08:00

Use a look at rotator instead of the gyro, set to look at a fixed tag on the tank. That way when retracted it will always "sit" neatly, whereas with a gyro it would try to rotate if the tank were to traverse an incline.2011-04-30 19:54:00

Hehe, thanks, but I think that you should know that I'm not making a tank. It's the first in a line of different sized combat spaceships. This artillery cannon one also has bombs, missiles, and a flamethrower. I call it a grenadier.2011-05-01 03:05:00
