Creator set Field of View
Archive: 5 posts
I understand the restrictive field of view is good in some cases but I wish this were a setting adjustable by the level creator. The current FOV limits the potential for some nice little mini games, cooperative and head to head. It could certainly be wider and still allow good visibility of the character and whats going on. | 2008-12-04 13:22:00 Author: rz22g Posts: 340 |

There is a camera tool in the game that will adjust the in game camera as the creator see fit for people playing their levels. It's one of the special tools that you can find on the third page, in the same area as the checkpoints. It can be set to change the angle when the player approaches or when a switch is triggered. This allows you to zoom in our out for dramatic effect or when a remote sequence is activated. The only problem is that it can only zoom out to about 10 big blocks in length. In create mode you can zoom out to about 25. | 2008-12-04 13:30:00 Author: Elbee23 Posts: 1280 |
Have you already tried using camera objects? | 2008-12-04 13:30:00 Author: Risen Posts: 251 |
I'm not sure what you mean. Do you mean having a bigger limit on the field of Camera Zones? Or do you mean being allowed to change the "default" field of view permanently for a given level? | 2008-12-04 13:30:00 Author: Gilgamesh Posts: 2536 |
I'm not sure what you mean. Do you mean having a bigger limit on the field of Camera Zones? Or do you mean being allowed to change the "default" field of view permanently for a given level? Im talking about the default game view. For example one player all the way to one side and another to the other side where they are about to walk off screen. I would like to see an option to increase the view wider so you have more view before one player starts getting left off screen. Im referring to setting this on a level when you create it, not changing others levels or the included game levels. Good example is the hoverdome level I did. I did not need to travel anywhere because players were restricted to the dome but the FOV was not wide enough to have the area I wanted. Making the dome smaller so everyone and everything fit on the screen made the area inside the dome to small for what was intended. Making the dome area larger put objects and players off the screen at times. Have you already tried using camera objects? The camera tool wont really increase FOV the way Im wanting. Im talking about the default max width of the game view itself. | 2008-12-04 13:33:00 Author: rz22g Posts: 340 |
