Randomizer

I'm trying to emit 3 objects at random, so I'm using a randomizer connected to them. The problem I'm having, is that when I set the randomizer to 0.01 seconds and leave the randomizer on for 0.03 seconds, sometimes it actually emits 4 objects instead of 3. Also, sometimes when I simply leave the randomizer on for a quick 0.01 seconds, it will not even emit anything. Is there an easier way to do this so that I'm guaranteed to always emit the exact amount of objects I want at random? Thanks! | 2011-04-28 00:07:00 Author: Unknown User |
Use a sequencer set to .1 seconds per stripe and put a tag on each stripe. Then the tag sensor connected to the randomizer. | 2011-04-28 00:14:00 Author: riverad08 Posts: 104 |
Actually, what you need to do is set your randomizer to override pattern. Then, you can pulse three signals into the randomizer's input any way you want to achieve the desired effect. | 2011-04-28 00:33:00 Author: Thegide Posts: 1465 |
Thank you Thegide. That method worked perfectly and saved me much headache. | 2011-04-28 01:00:00 Author: Unknown User |

I made a skill for my witch class that picks a random elemental aoe on the ground or fails using a randomizer with a selector but still had to limit it soo much! I had to make sure it did one, but always did one everytime! 2 different set ups made it mix or not do anything! (which is different from the "fail" I purposely set) ...so is over ride pattern like one shot? | 2011-04-28 05:36:00 Author: Dortr Posts: 548 |
Override pattern is possibly the worst choice Mm could have used for this option's description. Contrary to what you might think, the only thing it overrides is the timing aspect of the randomizer's activation. It does not override the output pattern. So yes, it acts like a one-shot trigger, randomly choosing which output to activate. Cool! This means I can trim some fat from some other randomizer logic I have on my characters! Good to know but ya, odd name for the setting! | 2011-04-28 08:47:00 Author: Dortr Posts: 548 |
