Still working on level with PSN down?

Archive: 23 posts

I have almost finished my LBP 2 level...well gotten much further...but every time a new glitch occurs all I can think is if my PS3 dies it is all gone. I think I have done a bit less work on the PS3 than I would have if it was still PSNable. I do back-up my data, but being able to quickly save it to online is easy...while exiting level then the game to back it up to USB stick takes way too long to do every few seconds. So who else here is a little bit too worried to do tons of work while the PSN is down.2011-04-26 03:13:00

I'd be more worried about NOT backing up to an external source you can keep an eye on than anything. Heck, what if SONY's big problem right now somehow erases all of everyone's PS+ backup's... what would you all do then? I know what I'd do... load up my levels and profile from my external drive and keep chugging along as if nothing ever happened. 2011-04-26 07:17:00

I've just finished a level I've been working on for a few months. I always back the level up and I back up my profile. I've playtest before backing up my new levels. When the psn is up I save locked. That saved me 2 weeks ago when my data was corrupted and my profile wiped. Now I'm literally putting the last finishing touches on my intro when I notice a few custom stickers were missing. Ok so I import last saved level and the same stickers are missing. I then notice that I have a ton of stickers missing, emitters empty and magic mouths erased. I've been overwriting last saved so I had to pull some stuff out of an old version of the level from my last profile back up. It's a fricken nightmare.

My advise is to have 3 versions of your profile and levels that are being worked on.
Oh btw if this has happened to anyone, or if you know how to fix it let me know.

More so. There isn't anything else to do. As for backing up, memory stick to computer any day of the week.2011-04-26 09:40:00

I've made more headway on my level in the last three days than in the last five weeks! Not having the psn up is horrible, but the lack of distraction is really conducive to creating. So much so that when the PSN comes back up I'm making a mental note to stay offline whenever I'm in create mode.2011-04-26 09:43:00

I've been doing a bit of level stuff, but without the ability to go online to play some levels in between creating, I've not done as much as usual. I can't just sit and create non stop for ages without playing a community level here and there in between. 2011-04-26 11:14:00

:kz:I've been making costumes & level bits every now & then, but like Moon said, I need mah Commute levels every now & then. Well, at least those stupid Posers must be suffering for not being able to plaster their ugly faces all over the levels.

I certainly got a lot of work done while PSN was down. I do back up my work regularly to a USB drive. I've never had any profile problems... but not sure if those types of problems are related to trying to import things from beta profiles?2011-04-26 13:31:00

I've just been messing around the whole time. It's not much fun without friends. 2011-04-26 13:49:00

Ive done about another 40% of my new level since the Network has been down.
Usually, i would take a break every hour or so and play a few community levels, but obviously i cant at the moment.
I just save onto my backup profile like other people have said here on this thread.

But i do miss taking that break and snopping about in the Newest level section.
I find that always helps me with ideas for my own level.

ooo.. and i just thought (slightly off subject) I wonder how many people had made Easter themed levels
and planed to publish them at the weekend?

I know i was considering this early this month. Im glad i didn't follow through with it. lol.

Still working. I'm slow no matter what, so, its still going slow.

Although, I am pretty much finished with my survival level.

As for backing up, not only do I back up all the time, when I save, I "save as" and save my level as a different version on my moon. So, I'm up to The Dream Catcher 1.7, which is the number of times I made enough progress that I wouldn't want to have to do over. It's saved me more than once.

So, when PSN comes back up I think we will see some cool stuff being published, probably see a flood of new levels, probably too many.. Good luck to anyone publishing the day/week PSN comes back up.

I'll probably wait a week or so. Not sure yet.

I do the back-up save as to three spaces as well. but I recently have noticed my moon going invisible due to all my back-ups. I clreaed out the ones I didn't need and copied my current version a couple of times (since i was sure it was bug free and I had backed up my data). The issue I was running into is because my PS3 is an older version I have been backing up to USB more often...but not every hour or so, just at the end of a create session because it takes a bit to back up on your moon then exit and back up the back up to usb...which means I could lose all that data if I lose my PS3 because I can't back it up on line (by publishing not with the PS+). As for losing stickers and emitters I have had them vanish too. Not sure what caused it. I know in LBP 1 if you had emitters or stickers on layers where items were glued to them, and you edited a layer it would delete all the things off the other layers like emitters or 3D stickers. Not sure what is causing it on this one though. It seems more like a session corrupts and you just lose ramdom stuff.
On a plus side I have found more items in the game, like the waterfall, a few songs, neon...I still need to find the cloud and hair materials though.

I used PSN down as a excuse to train RoR a little and reduce my night working, so i guess PSN down do best for me My current level i working on requires multiplayer testing anyway2011-04-26 20:31:00

I've been working on/tweaking various of my levels, but I really miss being able to visit/invite friends to get feedback/inspiration resulting in my productivity and drive not being quite as high as usual.

I have managed to get every remaining trophy except the "dive in 25" though, so that's a plus I guess

Here's to PSN getting back online in not too long...

I haven't been able to do any work on my level as there's a guy working on the advanced logic for me and it's pretty hard to get any further without it 2011-04-26 22:51:00

That's a bummer. Didn't even think of all those co-creators out there. Luckily, I've always been a loner when it comes to creating. So, if things aren't getting done... its all my fault.

Well... with PSN down is annoying and I just got LBP2 of course on wednesday (great timing!) and I have created one level about zombies and I have made another level I was working on in LBP1 even better! So it's sotra a blessing in disguise but i'm still annoyed
If anyone has a clone trooper and/or storm trooper costume like from star wars i'm looking for one and who ever wants add me my PSN ID is the same as mine on here!

To anser your question: Yes!
Due to the good feedbackon my first level, i started another level. I have gotten far in the level, and i am happy. I have run into some bugs that dont let me jump or jump off of bounce pads... it does fix itself with time.
I also finished another level i started back so long ago, i cant rember starting it.

Well, the PSN helps me with my creater side. I do miss comunity levels, too.

I have made two levels since the networks been down and I have just recently started remaking Super Shape Popper because of a couple glitches.

Keep in mind though that the first level is a lockbox, and the second is a mini game, so these aren't levels that take weeks to do...

Just waiting to publish.

Yeah, I need online to keep me sane.
Online backups are easier/faster, and I love dropping in/inviting friends to see/show stuff, play a level or what ever.
Plus I'd get stuck on some logic sooner or later.
