Lack of contraption prize bubbles

Archive: 28 posts

Its strange in lbp 1 almost all of the enemys and contraptions were in prize bubbles but in lbp 2 there is a huge lack of these!
And i really want the enemys they used in the game like:
-Da vinci's robot boss
-Victoria's machine boss, the meanies that appeared in her level and her train
-That weird turkey at the end of A factory of a better tomorow
-All the evil robots that were in Avalonia, And you cant forget about HUGE SPACESHIP!
-The evil flower in Eves asylum and the meanie boss in Higginbothams brain
-Basicaly all of the meanies and robot bosses in The Comos
-And finally What we really need as a prize bubble is the negativatron himself!
Lots of people are trying to make levels and movies with the negativatron but are finding it difficult to make him look like the one in th story levels

Does anyone else agree with me

I honestly wish they had more also. It's cool to see how they made certain things. I'm glad they let us see how the bunny, bee, dog etc were made. The logic in those were insane. I think it may have to do with space. If they gave us all of what you mentioned it would be a huge amount of logic. Just think the negativitron probably has a ton of logic. Also there is probably more than one of him. I'm sure the is at least 5 different ones throughout the story, maybe more. I agree they should of let us have way more objects that they have created. They honestly probably saw what happened in lbp1, that there were better community levels then actual story levels lol. I think this time they were like "why should we give them tips, they will do fine on their own.

I do wish we had some to mess around with. Great point!

Whilst almost nobody used them in their levels, they were helpful learning tools.
In the Beta there was a glitch that allowed some people to capture things in play mode. Some Mm stuff was given out. The antigravity balls, that you ride and use X to swap gravity, are actually incredibly complex in order to tilt when you move when on the ceiling or floor. Looking at the logic helped me lots.

But more community levels are giving out prizes (Useful ones) that you can look at, plus there are some great tutorials around. So I guess it's not a huge problem.

I think part of the reason is that they didn't want people to act uncreative, and just publish story items as a level. That seemed to happen a lot in LBP1 and got really boring.2011-04-25 21:00:00

I compleatly agree with you I think that Mm should have included all of the main bosses contraptions and also those cool holographic games from on the this in Avalonia XD2011-04-29 12:51:00

They shouldn't have, since Littlebigplanet is all about making your own stuff and not stealing other stuff.2011-04-29 13:01:00

I would love to have the bosses, solely to place them in create mode and beat them with my friends! (And probably use hover mode to cheat)2011-04-29 20:38:00

Create a more impressive boss and fight that!

I feel the same way, if you look at the goodies bag for LBP and LBP2 you can obviously see the difference between the amount of contraptions that were given to us. Its possible like someone said earlier they just expect us to take the logic to the next level. When if at all possible we could've had the LBP2 contraptions to build off of.

For instance in the world 'The Factory of A Better Tomorrow' the level 'Pipe Dreams' there is a section for two players where they must simultaneously rotate two hamster wheel objects in order for a sequence of holograms light up then a section of hamster tube lowers and drops some prize bubbles. I've gone through extensive research on how to recreate this, and finally found a solution. I could go into detail on how to do this, but it's easier shown then spoken of.

I'm trying to recreate the elevator that is used in the world 'Avalonia' in the level 'Avalon's Advanced Armaments Academy' that whisks you around to the different robots that you ride around in. I think I may have found some logic to recreate it, but haven't had the opportunity to experiment. The logic I'm thinking about is used for the electricity that flows in the 'Victoria's Laboratory' world in the 'Currant Affairs' level. Hoping that I can get it to start and stop at certain levels and not cycle through over and over again.

That's all.

They probably didn't give them out as prizes because they didn't want uncreative noobs to entirely make levels out of story mode objects. Honestly I think the only other prize they should have added was a Meanie costume.2011-05-10 16:57:00

Is there that good of a reason to giving the boss of LBP1 when you beat LBP1?

Wait, according to Kevin Butler, you don't finish LittleBIGPlanet?...

...two.

I think a better option would be the ability to unlock a sort of 'create' mode to look at all the stuff they do in their levels. It'd have to be like an unpublishable extra moon or something, with no capture ability. I would also love to see the end bosses' logic...

It's great to pull apart and learn from the won objects from LBP, but they clutter your popit.

As already mentioned it's pretty noobish to use a level full of the prebuilt contraptions (although I have used MM trees a few times...) so they don't really serve a purpose in your personal create popit, but a learning popit? NOW that's interesting. Like advanced, advanced tutorials... Maybe like that Prius thing their logic/contraptions had notes all over it.

I really wish they would have given out all the bad guys as prizes. I mean I am the kind of guy who loves bestiaries in games. That way you can look at any badguy anytime you want without having to fight them again. I also made villain zoo levels for people like me who love to see all the bad guys and bosses from LBP1. I was going to continue that, but they never gave a single bad guy out in 2. So looks like no more bestiaries in LBP2. 2011-06-05 21:17:00

Also, I think they gave out so much stuff in the first game because they had no idea that the userbase was going to end up being so creative and capable. They probably gave out some of the items as level boosters in case a player was having a hard time coming up with something. When they saw how talented many of the players were, they figured they didn't need to give it out because people would prefer to make their own items.

I do really miss looking at the logic, studying the design, pulling apart items to take certain pieces, and hunting for rare/glitched materials, though.

Initially, when I 1st started playing through LBP2, I had little idea as to how each of these things worked (Everyone else probably thought the same thing.), but after studying all of the logic materials, reading a few tutorials, and working on some advanced logic of my own, I now have a pretty good idea on how pretty much anything in the Story Mode of LBP2 worked. Still, it's a shame that I have so little to work with from LBP2's story mode. I would've liked to make some levels that featured the return of certain characters (such as Avalon or Clive) or locations (such as Eve's Asylum or the Factory of a Better Tomorrow). Why, back in LBP1, I was initially planning on working on an epic project that would've had the player revisit all of the past locations from the story mode, along with some original levels, and meet both old and new characters, all in order to thwart a sinister plot that involved populating LittleBigPlanet with new deadly creatures and obstacles. (For those wondering, I still have a few of those levels up, though I'm not sure how well they've aged throughout the years.)2011-06-29 02:11:00

I also wish they gave us more stuff, so that we could learn how Mm did it.
What would really be cool is if they let us look at how each level were made, I don't mean letting us open them up in create mode more like giving us a jetpack and letting us look at all there logic. It would be great for learning level building.

No I think they've done the right thing. 90% of the unlockables in LBP1 were useless in levels, because using Mm objects and contraptions is frowned upon when you can make things yourself. In LBP2 they've given us things that will be useful in an original level rather than just things they made that we can pick apart.2011-08-09 09:46:00

What would be nice is a sort of director's commentary where the developers load create mode at the office and fly around showing off the guts of a level for fifteen minutes or so. Upload the recording to YouTube and everybody can enjoy studying the story's logic during meals or listening to designer insight in the tub!2011-08-09 16:18:00

I disagree. It is more fun and is better for the player if you make your own original contraptions2011-08-10 08:50:00

@lbp2goty: That's right, but agree that it would be helpful if we knew how such awesome contraptions in LBP2 were made. So I agree with "director's commentary" suggestion.2011-08-13 13:14:00
