I would say there is a very big difference between using the 3D layer glitch/Background layer glitch (?) and that free-crown glitch which went rampage in beta as far as I remember :/... Is that this glitch? Or does it inolve the bug blaster costume, or whatever its name was?		2011-04-24 16:51:00

Oh yeah, definately. But it all depends on what the glitch is and how you use it.

A map exploit in an online FPS that gives you an unfair advantage? Yes, you might get banned for that.
Using the extra layers glitch in your LBP level? No, of course not.
Discovering a way to obtain rare DLC costumes which you shouldn't have and then giving them away to everyone for free? Yes, it appears you can get banned for that.

Ahem..... There Was an Eula that you agreed to, I'm pretty sure it included that in there.
I remember reading, that any offenses will result in immediate expulsion from the BETA experience.
Now in terms of being banned completely from the PS3. Getting rare costumes, and trying to stage a "give-away"?
Of course there would be consequences,

It doesn't really matter if it was in the beta, you didn't need to give away the costumes for free. If you find a glitch you let Mm know, or if they aren't responding you make a thread in the beta forums explaining how serious the problem could become if it doesn't get fixed to try and get the attention of the community. You don't need to show us how much of a problem it can be.

It also doesn't help that the glitch made it through to the full game. Or at least the costumes did; as soon as the game was released everyone had fake crowns.		2011-04-24 17:08:00

Maybe, but it was still in full release. I'm not sure if the glitch just wasn't fixed or if the costumes you gave away simply made it through when someone found a way to get stuff from the beta into the full game.

If you want to show how it works, you make it clear in the bug report, that's all you needed to do.

Anywho, not sure what the point of staying here is without LBP... did they ban you from PSN permanantly, and if so, is it PS3 wide or can you just make a new account and start over? O-o

Because personally I feel that a system wide ban is WAY too overboard for giving away crowns... maybe if you gave away stuff people would need to pay for like costumes and had Sony lose potentially lose thousands of dollars... but it was in beta, so, while what you done may have been stupid, I still don't think it is worth Sony refusing to take your money. :/		2011-04-24 22:03:00

I agree with RockSauron, it's too harsh i think, that glitch would out eventually anyway over time and i bet if not that publish MM would not even notice the problem. In general damage was practicly none, as long as this glitch don't magically make you owner of DLC in PSS (which didn't) effect of it is fully reversible. In MM fault that leave such huge hole in DLC to begin with, they not that good in security anyway, beta co-create blockage and beta transfers workarounds are simply easy to level of joke 2011-04-24 23:18:00

Perhaps we should all ban together on this ban, and send SONY a message. I've already put in some calls to some of my buddies in Anonymous... SONY should be self-destructing about a week after they get their system back online. Problem solved.

There not such thing as mac ban, devices Mac is only detectable in local network, since it's not transmitted via TCP/IP, servers can only see your IP to know to who talk back.

But yea, PS3 can send Mac for check to PSN servers, and PSN might decide to connect or not, but i bet they use console serial number instead or DRM keys ;]. But are you 100% your PS3 is banned? you tried to make new account?		2011-04-25 00:10:00

So they told that they banned your console? I say don't ever believe any call service, since those people usually don't even have idea how there products and services works and they are teached to just answering specific questions and do routine stuff try to create new account once PSN is up

That's too bad. Seems extreme. Not to mention plenty if people exploited this glitch. And, because MM didn't patch it and many, many other issues, people continued to exploit the glitch.

It's MM's job to patch the glitches that people find.

Not sure what your intentions were with publishing the level, but it was stealing - and then you pointed everyone to the unlocked door. Still, they should have banned you from the beta, not the game. Thru punished the guy who did it first, while letting everyone else get away free.

I still find it incredible that they didn't patch this before the final game release. And its still a mess to this day, since their "fix" can cause peoples level to lock on them because someone with DLC they don't have was used on a Sackbot.

At this point, with so many other game and glitch issues, I don't see MM getting around to fixing the glitch they created.

*sigh*

Oh well, sorry to hear your banned. I would contact MM directly and try and get it straightened out.

He found a bug and reported it and published and example level of how detrimental the bug would be. That's exactly what I was thinking.

LBP.me activity seems to confirm it. He's been inactive for 4 months.

Sounds like he found a glitch, posted it, took a long trip, and came back to discover the ban.

Here (http://us.playstation.com/support/answer/index.htm?a_id=939) is where I go to type in any Playstation error code I get.

If your error code is 8002A227 it means banned but it doesn't give a specific time.

If your error code is this 8002A203, it's nothing everyone is getting it.

Din't read all of this, but it seems that you were unable to remove the level even if you wanted to, which helps your case.

I advise that you do your best to write a polite, pathetic email to them* asking to unban you. Explaining that you did not know or something like that.

You didn't mean to cause a problem, and you found a exploit. BUT you sent that exploit to the interwebs and let lots of people abuse the glitch.

I don't see how a glitch like that could get you perma banned from PSN when you did something in LBP! I guess if you started this free crown thing... and it carried onto the full game... but thats not worth a PSN ban... I dont even see why they cant even patch it.
