What would YOU like to see?

Archive: 26 posts

Hey,

Since the PSN is down for possibly the next few days, or until tonight with some luck, that I thought a thread sharing future ideas for future updates of LBP2 or even LBP3, if there is one. Fingers crossed

Here you can share any ideas as to improvements that can be made in LBP2, DLC you would like to see or what you think LBP3 would contain if there is ever to be one.

I personally would like to see a wider range of materials, objects and creating tools that would help improve the community's levels we often see on Cool Pages. I would also like to see an improvement to the thermo, two things I see wrong with it.

-It often doesn't hold enough for you to complete the level you have spent weeks on, and you find yourself cutting it down, alot.

-And secondly, i'm not sure if anyone know's this, but the thermo has 16 bars, why not make it 20? Making it 16 can often make it more than difficult to determine the percentage on which your level is complete, or how much space you have left.

These are what I would like to see, now it's your turn. What would you like to see?

Firstly alot is two words, I'm sorry but I can never handle that.
Second, I was browsing through the store.
Laleelaleelaaaaa.
Oooooh a Sly Cooper pack, I can make a level of the dream team from my childhood.
This is pretty cool.
Wait...
What?
THERE'S NO MURRAAAAAAAAAY!

That really annoyed me, I want a Murray costume, SO BAD!

HDD Sticker Import Tool
Move Sensor (would make the perfect Wii menu like thing)
Player Tracker (like the spotlight in the intro level of LBP2)
Paint Brush Tool
PS3 to Server to PS3 (if you made a awsome object or sticker you can put it on a LBP2 sever so other people can download it from the pod onto there PS3)
Sticker Trim Tool (So if you have a picture on a white background you can make the white background translucent)
Clan support
enough places on your earth to publish every single level on your moon
material combiner

thats about it

I believe that Sony is making a party system like on the xbox, so now we can voice chat during games 2011-04-23 16:57:00

TBCH if LBP3 does come out then it will actually be a bit (if i can say) bad because i have lbp and lbp2, i have paid about ?80 just on them, if there is LBP3 then MM has grabbed around ?120 from ME!

but i wouldnt mind that because it it for the worlds best game EVER!!!

The suggestions about the sticker trim tool and material changer are both suggestions that i think LBP needs at the moment, they are great suggestions and very helpful.

You can talk in game, though it can only be a chat party in the same game lobby. Where as Xbox360 has a party system which allows up to eight players to join the party, talk to each other regardless of the different games each player is on, which is what PS3 needs to make it as best as it can be.

C,mon PSN, come online!

- Some dynamic stencils for materials, such as gears with a variable amount of teeth (I love creating mechanical gizmos, and LBP2 has already been quite fantastic in this thing - but it has still some room to improve).

- Command to show you the sub-thermometers that apply (if I have guessed right) - the only thermometer that I can see keeps going up and down randomly while building new things to my level, which makes it really hard to interpret that how much I can still do.

- Better sorting for logic wires - my logic wiring seems to always get tangled/overlap/just arrange themselves to a convoluted mess, even when a better arrangement exists.

- HDD Import. If it is even somehow possible to avoid copyright problems, I'd love to have it.

- More exact documentation, such as on the music synthesizer (tried it, and didn't really understand how the timing mechanism/BPM exactly applies on the notes, or how the note interface even works), or the score sensor (how devices react to >100% signals)

Not true you can talk but only if your with those people, but a party system would allow you to talk even if you were playing opposite games.2011-04-23 17:55:00

We just got a whackload of new materials objects and tools with the release of lbp2.... and still the cool pages are littered with costume levels, broken demos, and unfinished betas. I don't see how adding more stuff is going to fix that. It's a problem with the creators, not the tools.

-It often doesn't hold enough for you to complete the level you have spent weeks on, and you find yourself cutting it down, alot.

Filling the bar is filling the bar. Whether it's 16 bars or 20 bars is irrelevant because when its 80% full... its 80% full. I don't understand how your solution would help.

Also, you DO realize that the thermo size is based off the available system resources that are determined by PS3 hardware? I'm still shocked that after 2+ years people still assume that the thermo limit is just there to annoy creators.

Now, to be constructive here, I would like to see:

- tweak properties to make any material immutable or ethereal (solid in visual format only)
- grey hologram gradients
- transparency stickers
- supported system for editing glitch layers

Clan support Really? What would the point of having a competitive clan on LBP be? And furthermore, can't you and your friends just get together and have a group? Plenty of people have done it before.
enough places on your earth to publish every single level on your moon
material combiner There are plenty of options to change materials properties already.

thats about it

Do you actually own the game?

I would like to see some basic tools to create your own powerups. Other than that, just more materials. I would love to see a texturing tool that would let you do more than slide the texture around, like maybe you could resize the texture to a certain point or change the colors slightly.

A larger level limit. I only have 11 LBP2 levels, but I'm still worried about the limit. I mean, all of my LBP1 levels are still there, so why not have some extra space for LBP2 levels?2011-04-23 20:20:00

yes i do, i meant a modnation racers type thing where you go on a place on the pod menu and there are lists of things you can download and use
i have a clan and i though it would be nice to have a list of all my members so i don't have to remember them
i meant have nice circle, square, triangle shaped stickers instead of just have screen shaped stickers

My point with the thermo was the size, though it was more about the accruacy in determining the percentage of your level completetion. For example, say the thermo had 10 bars, each bar would represent 10% completion. My suggest is 20 bars, hence 20% per each bar and half a bar would lower to 10%, making things simple. With 16 bars, that's somewhere around idk, mabie 7% a bar, which is more than confusing.. Why not keep it simple.

My point will cool pages is which a wider range of tools, materials and gadgets, the players are more likely to become more creative, just like LBP1 to LBP2, some of the improvements in level quality is outstanding, and I for one want to see more grade A levels.

I'm aware the thermo size is not to annoy players, though, i'm sure they could shread some extra data from somewhere usless and less coneniant to improve the size of the thermo, unlikely yes. But nevertheless, it's a suggestion.

Great to see the community sharing ideas, keep em coming.

Honestly it's way too early for me to even comprehend an LBP3.

Buuuuuuut I'd like to see a warp tool for moving sackboy/objects around places without any tricks or gimmicks.

About the whole Termometer thigh that keeps popping up: if you hit square while hovering over your level on My Moon, it automatically calculates and shows the percentage filled.2011-04-24 02:36:00

I think your talking about the info precent. Its in interviles of 25% showing how much info you put in not termometer.

The termometer, since its in 16th, each 4 bars is 25%.

Logic destroyer (that only destroys logic) emitter item editing (opens sub level to edit item, or like in Adobe Illustrator it greys out the surrounding level so you can see where it goes, but the level does not interact...like in the hidden mode).2011-04-24 06:40:00

For them to fix my level that keeps freezing ?.?

But, other than that, I'd also like to be able to mess around with the defaults a bit, I like to have my Pop-it on full screen, but everytime I start the game up it's not full screen and I have to do it manually. Nothing major, but I'd be nice.

Move stuff as well, though I'd probably never make a full Move-only level, that'd seem unfair on people who don't have it. Maybe add extra Move-only areas that can be skipped.

in lbp3, more tweakable settings for water objects.... that was confusing... i mean say you have a bit of metal and you want it to float.. so be it. if you have sponge and you want it to sink.. so be it. if you have made AN EXTREMELY COMPLEX SEA MONSTER REPLICATING THE LAKE MONSTER FROM SHADOW OF THE COLOSSUS BUT IT DOESN'T WORK BECAUSE OF WATER PRESSURE..then that can be fixed. it would be like a material tweaker. with settings like water pressure on that object and float and various other options. also in tools bag you can change the water pressure of water over all. and water should be able to be placed in blocks and can be caught in materials the right shape. say a cave with a rock sticking out upwards. water can be caught in the gap. it can also slide of surfaces. that would be cool. and then stuff like water bending would be possible.2011-04-24 09:11:00

The idea of placing water in chunks, say between rocks and not the entire level is one idea i am completely in favor for. I think as well as were talking about elements, i think you should have the ability to control wind with the tools. Say like wind being able to push or pull you into one direction and perhaps even make blizzards for snow. Sandstorms for desert. Why not actually introduce lava?

I think the backgrounds you have in the back, like eve asylums background for example should at least be editable, meaning the placement of objects within the background if your not able to create your own professional looking background.

I'm not sure if this is out or not, but foilage in stickers is great, handy. Though why is there no foilage cept flowers for decorations or objects? Say like a 3D sunflower and a bush, you could create much more scenic levels.

Some things for create I would like is that each player could pause, undo and redo only what they did, not what everyone else has done. Because it just messes up someones else work as well as your own when you rewind.. It's more than a pain, mainly why I build alone and not in groups.

Those are some suggestions to think about, keep them coming. The more that come, the more likely you are to have an idea pop into your head

Hope your well, hope PSN is back on soon.. They're remaking the secruity system.

with 16 bars it's divided up into 1/2, 1/4, 1/8, and 1/16. I think that's much easier to deal with than percentages.

Now this I like. I think it would be awesome if water was just like any other material, where if you placed a square it would just fall down like a square and retain it's shape. Sackboy would just be able to float through it. This way, creators have the ability to place layer-specific water with overloading the game engine, and it would be up to the creator to make it look good.
