Jak II and 3 levels

Evening all,

been working on this for a while.
In LBP1 I managed to make a pretty good Jak II costume using various pieces of DLC. I then adapted this into a Dark Jak costume and a Light Jak. I released all three of these through a Costume Level as soon as LBP2 hit tha(along with various FFVII characters, a few pokemon, and some other costumes I made). I then made a Dark Jak bot capable of a simple melee based attack and the ability to throw eco bolts in either direction (act animation with the arms along with the bolt being emitted). I also used the new wing decorations (transparent ones) to make my Light Jak look better. The next thing I made was a Jak bot with the ability to transform into Dark Jak and turn back after 30 seconds. I then combined the two bots to make a Jak bot that could transform and throw eco bolts and use a melee type attack. Next, I made a Krimzon Guard outfit and a robot that would follow Jak and fire a paintinator, it would also be knocked back when the melee attack was used. I began to make a versus level based on killing Krimzon's to score points.

I moved onto making a Hellcat Cruiser which had a Krimzon Guard in the passenger seat in a dummy controlinator. I had the cruiser working complete with a laser cannon underneath. I may also add a second controllinator for a second player to use the rear gun as Daxter.
I then returned to my vs. level. I managed to prevent eco bolts from killing other players and only kill krimzons. I then spent quite some time working on a Sig costume which is probably my best costume to date. I also made another version of the Krimzon Guard using decorations so it's paintinator looked like a laser rifle type thing that fits with the J&D world.

Recently I developed logic for a paintinator shooting laser projectiles, which I'm currently trying to perfect.

I've got some basic level designs done but not an awful lot. I'm also short of a Metalhead costume.

I'll keep updating here as I make things.

That'd be cool. Might be a while before I get that far though!
If you have a look on my levels I have one giving away sackbots of all my costumes - including Jak and Dax made without the specific DLC.

I did see a Cyber Errol costume on a forum somewhere and it looked pretty decent, might have to try that some time.

Currently working on Jak II, just perfected a Jakbot that has the Blaster!
Just need to make and mess with a Scatter Gun projectile! Already done a test run for the Vulcan Fury (just used the blaster projectile for now.
Might get a Peacemaker made at some point too!

Do you plan on making any of the zoomer races? That could work out well as top down. I wonder if Haven City itself when roaming the streets would work top-down too, since then the city would be able to have the complete loop and everything to it, rather than being stuck in an A to B layout.2011-04-23 12:04:00

For the scatter gun, how about a wave of Red Hologram shaped like <) with the end of the wave covered with tags, and when the KGbot senses the gun, it destroys? I can draw up a better example if you don't thoroughly understand.

Also is there any way to get the paintinator without buying the MGS pack?

I've made a projectile for the Blaster, Vulcan Fury, and Scatter Gun. I had to mess about using turned down hologram stuck to the bottom of the yellow / blue holograms to make it look like they came from the barrel. The Scatter Gun was easy because it doesn't fire off so I could just emit it to the correct point. I made the projectile using a teardrop which I cut the inside out of, cut the point down, and put another teardrop slightly inside it. Looks pretty good.

Thought I'd sorted the re-centering problem but found problems with it. After ages I've got it sorted so now you can aim about 70 degrees either way of centre in the direction you last travelled which keeps the shooting angle relatively realistic.

Just need to set up some kind of little AND gate system to allow switching between guns (if I decide on that) but I think I'm going to do different levels / sections with different guns.

I haven't done Double Jump logic for my bot yet but I think that'll be next on the list. Also need to work out how to do cutscenes.
Baron Praxis and Errol costumes are definetly coming up on the list as they're both in the initial cutscene.
Still wondering how to do the attacks, I'm guessing that they're done using acting? I want something like the Sony vs. Marvel vs. Capcom (or whatever it's called, played it in Beta and got bored of load time last time I saw it come up [I have awful internet speed]) Anyone help with that?

Are you putting the player's sackboy in a controlinator which controls Jak? Cos you could probably wire up the Dpad to emitters which emit the powerup where jak is standing? It would help if you could make emitters invisible.2011-04-24 09:37:00

I've not actually made different paintinators to shoot the projectiles! I've actually made a very clever illusion
I think I'll just set the player going with the weapon for that section. I can actually destroy and re-emit the Jakbot with a different gun. I could also destroy and re-emit the logic for the illusion.
Only problem I've got now is the click of the empty paintinator.....
