Brazilian comic book called "Turma da Monica". It may look childish, but hell, we are playing LBP and watching MLP all over!
http://blogamos.com/imagens/turma-da-monica-site.jpg
It also has many variations, like specific character's comics, and a teen version.
Here's a usual comic from the official website, translated to english. (http://www.monica.com.br/ingles/comics/brincos/welcome.htm)

N?quel N?usea is the one I like it's a brazilian comic book based on a rat, who thinks up crazy plans for getting food, and expresses an ironic view of humanity. It fisrt appeared in S?o Paulo I do remember because it was my hometown.

Seriously, the amount of hidden as well as more mainstream gems, absolute gems of stories as told through the graphic novel format is in the tonnage. I could literally have a collection I loved top to bottom that also happened to need additional structural support for the cathedral-like study I have constructed in my mind for it. "comics" are a form of media that has remained purer to raw expression, less touched by mainstream formula breeders.2011-04-28 05:09:00

The Amazing Spider-Man. Dan Slott is doing an amazing job with it right now. As well as Edgar Delgado and Humberto Ramos doing the artwork...lots of awesomeness right there.2011-04-28 06:28:00

Alan Moore is a master of story-telling... he know's exactly how to manipulate a page for maximum story telling effect. The way he can weave narratives around each other - each one feeding off the other like a force feedback - and then tie them together in an unexpected way at the end is simply pure genius.

My favourite of Alan Moores is without doubt Watchmen - it is a seminal work, marking the transition from comics from a childhood persuit to it's elevation as an actual art form. It both pays homage to and parodies the "caped crusader" genre, while simultaneously transending it - aswell as having an entirely new sub-genre running as an under current through-out the entire comic. Even paying a nod & a wink to the 50's detective fiction.

I must have read Watchmen at least a dozen times, and each time I notice new things - it probably is the greatest comic book ever written.

Don't get me started on how bad the film version was

Belgian comics?

Yep, these are the funniest. But I'm quite into old Marvel and DC comics too, these are the first comics I started reading when I was young. I found the Watchmen series excellent too, much better than the film.
