Sackbook

Sackbook (http://www.sackbook.com/) is a fan-site (i.e. not official) that lets you search, browse and attempt to make sense of the plethora of user-generated content that fills LittleBigPlanet. If Facebook, Flickr and LittleBigPlanet somehow had LittleIllegitimateOffspring, they'd probably be something like this.

This is incredible!

http://www.sackbook.com/

An unofficial effort has so far outclassed MM and Sony's own offerings its astounding. Seemingly with direct access to the LBP servers meaing access to all those pictures, tag data, comments... everything!

You sign up with your PSN id and by leaving the randomly generated code on the level Sackbook, and because it can comb over all the comments on levels, thats how you'll be authorised!! Ingenious really, and I hope Sony doesn't block this with a patch or something..

Whoever you are Chris Warren, well done indeed! Sign up now chaps!

I just checked it out - is the cool levels section just lifted from the game? It seems to have all the same old crappy levels that the game says are "cool" including the idiotic trophy levels. I have not yet explored the sackbook properly though as I haven't had a chance to log onto the game and leave my code on the level.2008-12-03 23:04:00

I've played around with it a bit today. What I find most useful is being able to search for a PSN, and being able to see the plays and comments of my levels without needing to be in the game.2008-12-03 23:15:00

Uh Oh.....
Went there and tried to register, but I'm grounded from PS3 'till Christmas, so I can't Verify that I'm really DRT99.
But I AM DRT99....
And it IS that they don't trust me.
Now I made myself Sad

Anyway, Luckett_X, hope you don't mind but I went ahead and fixed up your original post a little bit for better presentation on Front Page News.

Thanks.

>_<

I tried doing it, but for some reason LBP censors my code in the comments...

>_<

I saw other people working (including Tyler from here two second after my first attempt O_O), but yeah, it wouldn't work...

The code was EY6VX3... but it just printed ******

no probs aer0blue, a tip of the trilby hat to ye sir

I think the best part about the site is certainly access to all the level pics and comments. Of particular note is the Level Search. Whether he's put in his own Search engine to make it more accurate or if its simply the same data and search process but its the way LBP displays levels scattered across a 3d globe that results in such a horrid mis-match of results..

I'd also like to note that Sackbook has no access or display of Star Rating data. If it did exist, you'd think it would be in with everything else. I really want to force MM or Sam_Protagonist to admit that right now Star Ratings simply arent recorded or affect anything..

Same, it might have to do with it saying "We're currently having problems connecting to the LittleBigPlanet servers. You may experience problems registering."

So, I guess I play the waiting game now?

Yeaaa... See I'm getting the impression the new patch might be preventing Sackbook from adding new members or something, because same for me, I can't register. Darn shame, I heard good things about this site. And the pics look sweet

Registering doesn't change that much. Most of the site is a WIP, and about the only thing I managed to do by registering was getting a nifty little Sackbook signature. Everything else you can access on the site regardless of being logged in or not.

OMG
That site is the best thing to happen to LBP since LBPC
Amazing to just check stuff when not on your ps3 (as I don't get much chance to get on my PS3)
How do they do it. They have instant access to all the info (Plays, Currently Playing, Hearts, Now the Star Rating, Comments, Pics with all the tags, the Button Pics)
Don't know how they do this, but I'm glad they can

Oh, and the information displayed on the site is actually updated faster than what we see on the game. The game refreshes all information (about your plays and hearts) every 30 minutes or so, unless you turn your PS3 off and back on. The site, however, is always up-to-date.2008-12-04 22:42:00

According to the site...

To upload a photo of gevurah22 using LittleBigPlanet, open your popit menu (press square), select the 'Stickers & Decorations' icon, then scroll to the 'My Pictures' section and select a photo of gevurah22. Once you've found the photo you want to upload, press square, and then select upload.

Myself, I just went to a published level, took a picture of myself, then uploaded the picture I just took (it's in the More Info window of the picture).

Sackbook's down for now.

8th December 2008:
As expected I've been asked by Sony's Sacklawyers to take down Sackbook whilst they take a look at how the data is accessed to ensure everything is safe and lovely (it is, but they are right to make sure of such important things).

Please keep your burlap fingers crossed that Sackbook can return in the not-too-distant future in some form or other. If you cross your toes too, there may even be added useful thingamabobs and fun doodahs to play with.

Hope to see you all again soon,
Chris & Sackbook the Sackboy.

The search was fundamentally the same, but the results were presented in a standard format instead of being presented as patches on LBP. This makes a world of difference when trying to find a particular level.
