Puzzling Power Plant

Archive: 13 posts

Hey guys!

This is my first real level in LBP2. It features a neat little LBP referenced story (manifested in the intro film) and a lot of logic based minigames. I've spent countless of hours tweaking this thing into being a pleasant experience so I really hope You'll all have loads of fun!

Note that this is a single player experience - friends and other players will primarily watch and might not make it to the sublevel.

I'm bumping this because I played last night and was just floored. The intro was amazing. So much detail it's unbelievable. Then you get into the powerplant and the goal is to get the power back on and to do that you have to complete a number of task (puzzles) that are extremely well crafted and unique. Again, the attention to detail here is phenomenal. Insomnia-fm has crafted a masterpiece here. A couple of the puzzles were difficult, especially the memory block one, but if I can do it, and I was half asleep, then anyone can. I urge you to go play this level. This level deserves more than the 45 plays it's received.

And Shame on you spotlight crew for not including this gem. TSK TSK. This should have been back in Spotlight 59 or 60

Oh, I remember playing it and loving it, but I also remember I had to leave because of a strange bug (I wasn't able to leave the controlinator after the 5th puzzle if I remember well). I will give a new try. thanks for bumping it.2011-07-05 16:37:00

I had no problems with it. I think now you're automatically ejected after completing the puzzles.2011-07-05 17:20:00

Wow! Thanks for bringing this level to my attention. I hope the creator is still active on these forums because I have a few questions:

First question: (I suppose anyone can answer this) How do you get the controllinator chairs to fact inwards?

Second question: You have the puzzle that plays a sequence of buttons which you need to remember. Are these random sequences? Because if they are, I'd very much like to know how to do that, because I tried a while ago and failed. I seemed to hit a snag when the random sequence came up with 2 of the same outputs in a row. I know how to do it with a set sequence BTW.

But yeah, awesome level. I hearted it (and I don't throw my hearts around lightly).

Hi people!

I'm loving the kind words - THANK YOU!

Regarding bugs or issues with the level, I wrote this on LBPlanetarium:

"Why the level seems so glitchy is beyond me. I have also received feedback from others, claiming that various puzzles broke or that they got stuck in a controlinator. As I said, I have played this thing SO many times, though never experienced any kinds of glitches that broke the level for me.
I'm beginning to wonder if it is due to LBP2's occasionally unstable engine. I mean, when the logic/contraptions get complicated and the level is quickly streamed/downloaded - could the game "forget" some minor, yet essential things that keep the level fully functional?"

@Ali_Star
1) Just place a controliator on the floor and twist the seat 180 degrees with your right stick.
2) Yes, they should be random sequences. The puzzle is (roughly) made by connecting different timers to a radomizer with a 1s output - thereby controling an increasing number of blocks to rembember. Hope you got your answer.

I'm sorry for the late reply but I can't seem to find the time to be active on these forums, so all my activity and feedback run through the game

I had an idea for a memory style mini puzzle before I played your level, but the sequence is not random. I use comphermc's logic (in one of his tutorial vids) to get it working. Did you use similar logic to that?

I didn't have any problems with your level at all, but I agree with you that LBP2 can be a bit unstable. A few people have had problems with my latest level, which may be due to lag, but I've not been able to completely sort it out yet.

Recently played this level.

Looked really nice. I got past the first puzzle and then when the elevator was activated, I didn't step in in time and it closed the doors and went up....and never came back down. I was stuck. I may try this level again, but I just thought I'd let you know of this issue.

I'm playing the level at the moment and I'm loving it so far.
I've had a bit of a problem with the jigsaw puzzle bit.
I selected a piece and placed it but it wouldn't let me drop it at first.
The cursor stayed over by the other pieces and for a moment I could move two different pieces.
I had to move the first piece back over to the cursor to get it working properley.
I was close to giving up for a second before I managed to sort it out.

Apart from that small hiccup I'm loving it though.
I love a puzzle so this is right up my street.

Hopefully it gets alot more plays
