Cybernetic Adventures Gamma: Steampunk Industrial

Archive: 18 posts

After playing some really good steampunk levels in LBP1 and LBP2, I was inspired to make my own and this third installment of my hit level series is the one. The level features the creatinator usage such as extinguish the flames, light up the dark place, and shoot missiles at the viruses. It has more than just the steampunk visuals and creatinator, there's also the controlinator puzzle where you have to guide the energy in power room to restore the energy of the abandoned factory, and there's some amazing usage of bouncing pads. Just like Alpha and Beta, there's some amusing cinematics that tells the story. Hope you enjoy my first steampunk level.

Thanks to L1GhtMaRe, Sabre_, and Midnight-heist for beta play testing this level.

Got a chance to play it tonite before work since I had a graveyard shift. The beginning movie scene was pretty kool. I really enjoyed the contraptions each area had. Particularly the rotating bounce pads. The visuals were definitely stunning with the steamjunk look. Only thing was most of each area were in part large with lots of open space. I believe that was intentional. I would of prefered more use of stickers and objects that might add to the steamjunk look. Just my preference. The background was spot on to give that added dimension to your level (elevator moving platform). Overall, a well designed and detailed level. Almost forgot to mention the boss fight. Very kool indeed. Looking forward to your next series.

Thanks, triple_sss. Glad you enjoyed it. Yeah, I noticed that the level could use a bit more visuals now, but the layer glitch made it up. I'll add more visuals later on.

And, Galaxyinapot, just saw your review. Thanks.

I just updated this level with visual boost. I added more stickers, decorations, and a few holographic effects. Also, I fixed a bug somewhere at the beginning of the larger factory. That will be all in the level's first update.2011-04-20 23:45:00

Sorry I'm three weeks too late xD.
Well I just played your level and I must say it's great. It had nice cutscenes, great obstacles, an awesome boss fight and good visuals. Also a minigame( which was a bit frustrating sometimes) with a blue plasma ball.
Altogether a must yay xD. Keep up the good work!!

Hey justin, I played this a few days ago, and while I was unable to finish the level (I lost sense of direction where there was a wall with a duck sticker) I can say that everything I played in the level was great. The story was pretty engaging, the scenery was well designed. The platforming elements and contraptions that you made were very well done. Overall, good job on the level and hope to see more from you in the future.2011-06-11 05:52:00

Thanks, Frexy18, Shookie99, Nikicoki, and Nick930930. I just updated this level with an hologram effect (where you solve the cylinder key with water creatinator puzzle to open the gate) and more stickers and decorations.

If anyone's interested, I also updated Alpha with "Tron" stickers a week ago.

Nice job on the cut scenes. I liked the checkpoints, they were perfect for the level. The light blocks were nice and also a plus that you actually needed to use them. I would have liked to of seen more usage of them. Nice use of decorations and of course the original gears and gadgets. I loved the little cut out in the fence where you have to access the back layer...I didn't see that right away! You can fly over the duck gate and take a nice run to nowhere. I'll upload my pix. I think the hologram you added will be helpful to most. You also had a nice boss ending and great job on that train! Thumbs up from me for sure.

When you get a chance, please provide some feedback on either my Ka-Boom Basketball, Afro Troll or Golden Acorn in my sig, Thanks.

hey just played your level yesterday. good job all around. i can tell you took your time with this.

there are some nice visuals in this level though it didnt feel 100% steampunk in my eyes though( level felt a bit too new/clean). there were some fun gameplay elements though there was some disconnect i felt there maybe a few to many speech bubbles, small gripe.

all in all this was a very fun level.

I really enjoyed your level. The cut scenes were great and the game play was well balanced and fluid.

Good use of the extra layers and decorations.

My only (minor) criticism would be that the ball you had to hit with the water (to push it over the edge) seemed to get a bit stuck, although after a few jumps and well aimed water shots it eventually went over. This is only the only problem I could find with this level.

Overall, an excellent, well designed and fun level.

Thanks for for the feedbacks, Peoriaspitfire, JuscallmeJ, and Fluxlasers, and thanks for the queue, Blanchrocker, I just updated this level with some fixes. First one is as suggested by Peoriaspitfire, I added the invisible ceiling in the secret area to prevent escaping out of the level, then as suggested by Fluxlasers, I shrunk the key puzzle where you must push it with the water creatinator so that it won't stick that much. However, there a appears to freezing glitch every time I collected the first creatinator (or maybe the other creatinators), so it looks like I need to lock this level until further notice. Don't know if it has to do with the update 1.04, because it worked all right before.

EDIT: I found a way to prevent the freeze glitch from happening, so the level is updated and now unlocked. The decorations of the creatinators are the problem so I removed them.
