Couple of logic questions

Archive: 7 posts

I'm trying to create the platforms that pop in and out from a wall when a player is near them. I know I need to use "in/out movers" to get them to work, but I'm having trouble getting them to work properly. I am using player sensors to trigger the In/Out movers, 1 to pop it out, and a 2nd to retract it, but it's not working. Since I'm using 2 player sensors in such a small area (the platforms). They are canceling each other out. Am I using the wrong approach here?

Also, I've seen levels that are using what looks like chalk to write or draw on the walls. Is there a chalk sticker? Hiw is this done? Thanks.

You should put you logic on a microchip so they line up exactly. Also, i think you can just use1 sensor. when active move out and when not active move in. As for the chalk, yes there is a set of chalk stickers. I am not sure where they are though (they could be from lbp1 for all i know)2011-04-16 19:03:00

I am using a microchip. You can't have 1 player sensor set to both inverted and normal, so a logic chip needs to be used I'm assuming, I just don't know which chip.

this is what you do:

have only one player sensor and attach it to a NOT gate. attach the player sensor to the out mover and the NOT gate to the in mover

You can copy a level from Quietly Wrong on to your planet. It's great tutorial level, he has those stairs/platforms in the level. Anyway place a microchip on each platform, attach a player sensor, notgate, and two in out movers. Attach the player sensor into the out mover and the not gate, attach the notgate to the in mover. Set the radius to about 20-25 and you should have working platforms.2011-04-16 23:56:00

The chalk stickers are found under "Doodles" in the Popit sticker menu.

They are collected mainly in the Da Vinci story levels.

They're my favorite type of stickers.

I'm trying to create the platforms that pop in and out from a wall when a player is near them.

If the idea is just to have a platform that is 'out' when the player is in a specific region, and 'in' otherwise, then you can do it with a single Player Sensor and In/Out Mover.

Feed the output of the Player Sensor into the positive input of a Direction Combiner and a NOT gate, feed the output from the NOT gate into the negative input of the Direction Combiner, and feed the output of the Direction combiner into an In/Out Mover set to "Move Out Once".

The significant point here being that if you feed a negative signal into an In/Out Mover, it does the opposite of what it's tweaked to do.
