The Ultimate War of Orfanace

Archive: 4 posts

WARNING: Read this first!
This post and story are pretty long. It is awesome though. Took a little while to write, all from my imagination. You don’t have to read it all, unless you plan to sign up. In which case, yes, I expect you to read it. Its cool; but if you find it boring, then the game probably isn’t for you.

In the year 671, on the planet Orfanace, it was finally ready. The machine that would bring these humans into space. It was on the launch pad, ready to blast off...
3... 2... 1... FOOOOM! It was up in the sky. The usumorous hydroxtate reticuluous, or UHR, was the only fuel that could possibly power a ship to get into space. However, Mindev, the only nation with enough UHR to spare to power such a massive object, hadn’t done their research very well. A thin layer of gas in the upper atmosphere, called phosotate, was a devastating reactant with UHR. When the burned UHR feul trailing from the bottom of the ship came into contact with the phosotate... Game over man, game over. The fuel ignited, causing an enormous explosion that annihilated the ship, destroying everything on it and nearly incinerating the ship material itself. So the inhabitants of this planet realized they were stuck here, until they could figure out a way to make fuel that could power a ship into space that didn’t detonate in the atmosphere.

On the planet of Orfonace, there were four powerful nations. Kevidus, in the north western quadrant, was a proud nation. It had many great cities of fertility and luxury, and its people were happy. Controlling it was a team of intelligent political leaders, and also under their command was a very large army, being the largest of any other this planet had ever seen. However, it was in no way the most powerful.

The award for “most powerful military” went to the country of Mindev, who, although having the second smallest army at the time(due to the fact that no one wanted to fight for it, and indeed they didn’t have anything to fight for[yet]), had resources to build incredibly powerful machines and weapons. Sitting across from Kevidus in the north east, Mindev was rather... Unpleasant. The government of Mindev, having spent so much money on military power and production, left almost no room for anything else. The cities were run-down, each housing several factories in which the people had to work to afford the unpleasant food that was made from limited crops that were grown in the limited space provided from the government. Pollution in the air from the UHR factories and wells made it a sickly place to live, causing many diseases. So why don’t the people just leave? The only way to do that was to obtain certain papers and information approved by the government. So in reality, the people were literally imprisoned within their own country.

The other three nations didn’t particularly care for Mindev, at all. They tried reasoning with them, but the Mindevian government wouldn’t listen. Not wanting a fight, for it would end with disastrous results, the other nations didn’t go to far to try and persuade Mindev for fear of being attacked by its powerful military. Mindev had a history of getting easily upset, partly due to bad corrupt leadership, partly because they were so cocky about being so powerful, and they “knew” they could win.

Holloton, a large nation, sat below Mindev, connected by land. Housing the same resources that make Mindev so strong, they were the second most powerful military force of the four nations. However, they owned 70% less UHR wells then Mindev did. Unlike Mindev, however, they cared much more for their people. Not paying half as much attention to development of military and weapons that Mindev does, their country was semi-happy, although the climate made the country ugly and the soil unfertile, making it difficult for plants to grow.

The smallest nation, geographically, would be Viltorn; the weakest of them all. The smallest military and the weakest, it is an island that sits between Holloton and Kevidus, but more southern. Not housing anything of particular value in any large quantities(except fertile land), they were the poorest country, with a slightly unhappy civilization that looked neglected and worn. It’s not the governments fault; they have no money to spend on luxuries or factories, or an army for that matter.

These four nations lived together well; they had their arguments with each other, but no true war ever broke out. Each country helped out the others in their times of need, mostly natural disasters. They always came to the aid of everyone else when it was needed. This went on for hundreds of years, all the while the four nations changing and learning and growing. However, such harmony can only last so long.
In the year 1284, a disastrous earthquake ruptured a section of Mindev a few miles offshore. The damage was devastating; it was one of the worst natural disasters ever recorded in Orfanace history. Up on the list with the spaceship explosion over six hundred years ago. It took out many cities and many UHR wells(UHR is by far most common along the shore). The other three nations sent emergency response teams, but that wasn’t enough. In 1285, The Mindev government requested the use of Holloton land and resources for the time being. Holloton, however, refused.
“You’ve got more undamaged land then we do, even with that earthquake,” said Bovidius, the then-current leader of Holloton. “And you’ve got way more resources in half your country then we do in all of ours!”
Mindev was furious at Hollotons refusal, and tensions mounted between the two countries. Despite the arguments that were taking place, and despite Bovidius’s refusal, Mindev sent several convoys of civilians from the damaged cities along with military personal into Holloton territory. This made Bovidus furious. When he called back all of his emergency response teams out of Mindev, that was the final straw. The Mindevian convoys attack several nearby towns, and war between Mindev and Holloton was born. A few days later, after Mindevian troops started invading several of the Hollotian islands close to Viltorn, Viltorn contacted Holloton.
“We wish to help your cause,” said Visor, President of Viltorn. “Mindev is a horrible nation with abusive habits; let us fight with you.”
Bovidius, who was in a terrible mood at the time, responded: “You, help us? Your nation is weak and you have no power. Keep yourselves alive and stay out of this!”
Visor, although disgusted by Bovidius’s reply, accepted it and contacted Kevidus, the good nation, with what Bovidius had said.
“They don’t want outside help. They’re too proud. We’ll leave them alone for now. Eventually, however, we will be sucked into this war... one way or another,” was the Kevidian reply.

Mindev soon controlled all of the islands off the coast of Holloton. Some of these were extremely close to Viltornian islands, and Mindev began making factories on their newly obtained islands, which upset Viltorn greatly. Viltorn kindly asked Mindev to cease production on these islands, but Mindev completely ignored them. Finally, when air pollutants started reaching toxic levels on several islands off the coast of Viltorn, they had had enough. Viltorn made am extremely foolish move, and went to the islands with a large portion of their army to attempt to use intimidation and threats to force them out. Mindev solders fired the first shots.
Viltorn immediately asked for the other two nations help, as the Mindevians far out powered and outnumbered them and could easily take over the Viltorn island. Holloton, much closer then Kevidus with the luxury of being able to send immediate help to Viltorn that could get their fast; declined the Viltorn plead for help. Not even ignored, declined. Holloton was just leaving Viltorn to be destroyed. Mindevian troops invaded Viltorn, taking over most of the island before the rest of Viltorn fled to Kevidus, who had accepted the plead for help and who were more then happy to take in the poor refugees. Many outposts and cities still remained under Viltorn control on the island, however; Mindev had stopped invading; they only needed so much land.
NOW Holloton was ready to intervene. The Mindevian armies controlling part of Viltorn were a relatively easy target, as Bovidius, leader of Holloton, was quick to realize, and so he too invaded and took control of the parts of Viltorn in Mindev’s control. Considering the land was rather useless, Mindev ordered their remaining forces on Viltorn to retreat. However, unlike Mindev, they didn’t stop. They kept right on going, and attacked the cities still under Viltorn control. The Viltornian government, taking refuge in Kevidus, had no time to act; Holloton wiped out all remaining Viltorn forces from their home country. The entire island was now under Holloton control, with Mindev, Viltorn, and Holloton all at war with each other.
Viltorn was now no longer a nation, but merely a very large number of refugees living in another country. Visor(president of the former nation of Viltorn) and Kevidus agreed to an alliance, and the already huge army of Kevidus grew bigger with the Viltornians, together forming the Alliance of Western Power. This new AWP far outnumbered the other armies, but unfortunately still lacked their strength. Both of the other armies considered it treason for Kevidus to join with Viltorn, and both declared war on the AWP. So now it was a full-fledged planetary war.

27 years later, in 1312, the war was still running strong. Not wanting to invade anyone, the AWP had focused all of its power into defending its country. They had taken heavy fire from the other countries, mostly Mindev, and their land was shrinking as the armies fell back from the powerful forces. It was all they could do to stop their country from being overtaken by this now corrupt force.
Meanwhile, the former island of Viltorn, now called New Hollo, had been turned into a hell hole. Holloton was now corrupt, and had become extremely similar to Mindev. The air was polluted, and factories were everywhere making as many weapons as possible to hold off the incredibly out of control Mindev. Mindev gathered a huge army and invaded the border of Holloton, and Holloton lost most of their land, UHR wells, and factories. Now, New Hollo was basically the only place left to build and produce, having its few remaining resources shipped by drop ship overseas.
After 10 more years, Holloton had been completely wiped out of their original country. Mindev controlled all of Holloton, including where they used to get their resources. Therfore, Holloton had nothing to do but defend, just like what the AWP had been doing for nearly 40 years. The AWP forces had been depleted, now controlling only 65% of the original nation of Kevidus. In 37 years, Mindev was under control of almost the entire planet, with no signs of stopping.
Several months later, Holloton was shrinking under Mindev invasions into New Hollo. They had nearly run out of resources, and the protection of their island was dwindling. Mindev had been focusing greatly on capturing Kevidus; they, however, were in a great defensive position as well. They had also managed to steal some UHR tankers, and were using it to fuel their own powerful weapons. With their better intelligence, they used it wisely, and pushed back Mindevian forces to gain some territory back.
In 1322, Mindev started what would soon be a halting point in the war. They had crafted a bomb; a UHR bomb. It was small, and not too powerful; but extremely devastating. It was fired inland in New Hollo. Decimating everything with a 5 square mile radius, New Hollo was mortified. It had been a warning shot, Mindev said; they were asking for the surrender of New Hollo. But one month later, New Hollo had perfected their own design; without acknowledging the offer of surrender to Mindev, they used up the rest of their UHR supply to build their own UHR bombs. Much smaller and less powerful, they had on a special technology that made them invisible to radar, and since they were two feet long and Mindev had no idea it was coming, the effect was even worse. 15 bombs went out to the coasts of Mindev; 14 detonated. Not only that, but each one’s target had been a UHR well(which, if you remember, were most common on the shor line), and all 14 of those UHR wells were annihilated. Horrified, Mindev pulled back into many of their forces to deal with the new crisis, a loss of 38% of their UHR. Furious at this response, they launched 10 more full-beast UHR bombs all over the country of New Hollo. But the Hollotons had known somewhat what was coming; they had all scattered, and were fleeing into the other nations under cover. Even more infuriated, Mindev launched one last bomb in anger; and this was no ordinary bomb. It was a mega UHR, and it was unlike anything ever seen. It detonated in the center of New Hollo, leveling the its target city. It was so powerful, it burned a hole straight through the phosophate in the atmosphere, which was the only thing keeping these inhabitants from leaving the planet.
The AWP were the first to realize this, and, seizing their chance, they invaded the now empty and complete wasteland called New Hollo. Now they created a defensive position on this island, with the technology able to stop any incoming UHR bombs. Mindev, dealing with the catastrophe in their own country, were too busy to notice this incredible opportunity. They hadn’t noticed Kevidus and the AWP moving into New Hollo; they were still under the impression that the AWP was still defending Kevidus.

CURRENTLY:

Now, in the year 1324, the AWP are crafting a ship that can get them to a new home, free from Mendiv forever. It will take several more years however. They will also have to, at some point, gain access to lots and lots of UHR. The Hollotians, with all of their home, happiness, and wealth destroyed by Mindev, and still at war with the AWP as well, live in hiding all over the planet, in separate independent groups. You never know when or where they will strike next, but they are usually trying and normally succeeding at causing trouble and chaos in the two nations. They arent aware of the spaceship production in New Hollo, however(yet). Mindev is now in the process of trying to take over the now weakened AWP forces in Kevidus, since many of them were pulled into New Hollo. They don’t know yet that most of the AWP are in New Hollo, but its only a matter of time.
All city names, people names, leaders ect. were left blank to ensure maximum creativity by the players.
On this planet, it is kinda the future. They have future technology, by they also have drop ships and futuristic weapons and stuff like that. They can go in space though. Keep all this stuff in mind when you post.

Biography: I was born in the year 1309, in Holloton. I was neglected by my parents, being taken care of almost entirely by my older sister, who was 19 when I was 13. My other sister had died of disease when she was only 4, I being 2 at the time and my other sister being 6. I lived in poverty all my life.
When Holloton got desperate, my sister at age 19 went to join the military. I loved my sister; she had been everything to me, being my guardian all my life, my father being in the army since before I was born and my mother being so poor and neglecting. Several months after, news came of my sisters death. They had been led into an ambush, and she had not survived. I was devastated. No news had come from my father for a year; my mother thought he had been killed. I had never known him, and having a bad idea of parents I didn’t really care. I despised Mindev for doing this to my sister, and I left my home to find others who could help me get revenge on Mindev.
Two years later, I was the leader of about 40 people, all mostly under the age of 25. Because I had started this group, and because I seemed to be good at just doing what I was supposed to do, I was the leader. Our main goal, all of us, is to torment Mindev as much as possible.

Where are you now? Who are you with, what are you doing, or trying to do? I am currently with my group of people. We call ourselves the First Resistance. We are all set upon wreaking havoc upon Mindev.

I have read the rules:Course I have, cus I wrote them

RULES:

Note: three secret letters aree hidden in here. You need them in the order given to sign up. Ill change it every now and then, so don’t expect the post above you to be right!

Put anything not involving the story in ((double parenthesis))
Anything that doesn't directly pertain to the story goes in parenthesis, so that if I need to read stuff from JUST the story, I dont have to read every post, I just read the stuff not in parenthises.
Yes Im stealing this from console wars. it’s a wonderful idea, and since its obvious Im stealing it, Im just gonna keep it at double parentheses to make everything easier.

Use correct grammer!
It is much easier to understand what you’re saying when I actually can. Secret letter one is A. If someone doesn’t know what you’re trying to say, and its an important part of their story, its difficult to implement it because I they know what happened.

No god-modding
“Player 4 shoots player 7. Player 7 is now dead. You lose.” Secret letter number two is T. Or, “Player 4 shoots player 7. Player 7 is not heavily wounded through his liver.” What can player 7 do if he’s got a hole through is liver? Not much except be crippled for a long time. This is better: “Player 4 fires a shot at player 7.” Now what will player 7 do? Leave that to him. If he wants his liver to look like swiss cheese, let it be his decision.
That also includes you having control over other players. Secret letter three is M. So if player 3 makes his player part of Regiment 91, its kinda stupid for annoying player 9 over there to come in and say he’s leader of Regiment 91, and everyone in it has to do what he says. Just don’t do anything that will effect other players creativity.

Currently, story telling is CLOSED. I want players to join before stuff starts happening.

If you read all that, congratulations. You may now sign up. To sign up, simply fill out this form. Remember, don’t start telling your story yet, just sign up!
