Camera on sackbot help

Archive: 4 posts

Hi everyone.

Ok, this is gonna sound like an easy one and i'll be kicking myself in the morning... but...

I'm having simple camera troubles-

I want to sit in a controllinator seat and remotely control a sackbot off screen. I need to be able to have the camera view follow just my sackbot. What do i need to do and what settings on the game camera. I have put game camera on the sackbots chip/ on the controllinator reciever chip but the view never follows the sackbot, it sort of hovers by the player.

I have tried the cameras view to follow sackboy 100%, not follow sackboy 0%/ the camera zone over the sackbot, over sackboy, but nothing seems to make it follow the sackbot.

Any help would be appreciated
Thankyou.

Use a Movie Camera (not a Game Camera - game cameras require that sackboy be in the frame - or the countdown to death starts). Set it to NOT disable the controller. Hold time infinite (though if you need to exit the DCS and change the camera angle, you will need to add logic to switch to a Movie Cam with hold time of zero).

Check out comphermc's tutorial on sackbots (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IBYx49PaykM&feature=player_embedded). (jump to about 11:05 to see the camera logic he adds). Note that he is making a cut scene here, so you'll want to follow my instructions on hold times, disable controller, etc.

Hope this helps.

Alternatively, you could just make your actual sackboy into an invisible follow cam - allowing the use of game cameras during the level too!
Just stick the direct control seat (set so that it isn't visible during play) onto holographic material set to zero brightness (thus making it invisible in play) and then place a 'follower' (set to an adequate acceleration) on the material. Set the follower to follow a tag you place on the controlled sackbot. Invisible follow cam! Sorted?
