UnBlock Me

Archive: 9 posts

Hi, this is my first post here. This is my take on the iphone/ipod puzzle game of the same name. It is comparable to traffic jam. Where there a bunch of blocks on the screen and you have to get the red one to the right.

A short list on the feedback I am looking for.:
Improvements?
Problems / Bugs?
Automatic photo-yes/no?

I'll continue making updates for it. I hope you enjoy my level.

EDIT (4/16/11): Thanks everyone for the suggestions! The help screen has been improved (fixed camera, mini tutorial)
'snapping' to a grid will be tough. Tried with followers on the blocks and tags on the edges. It works but the follower moves the block to the right or left (just enough to block the path for another block) I am open to other suggestions. I thought followers would have worked.

Played it, loved it, hearted it, and will be back for more later. There are a few things that I would change to make it better.

I almost gave up on it because I couldn't figure out what I was supposed to do. A little clearer directions would help a lot. Something like "Move blocks with R1 to get the red block to this location". Simple, short, easy to understand.

The help page goes away too fast. I found it annoying, that I was trying to read it and it disappeared. I would make it visible until the player presses circle, but make it obvious that the player is supposed to press circle to return. Also make it a little more obvious that the help can be viewed on the difficulty selection screen.

Lastly, although this is a very minor issue, I found that sometimes the path to move a block looked clear, but it was not. Another block needed to be moved ever so slightly to make room. This would probably be too difficult to implement, but it would be awesome if the blocks moved on a grid. So you can't move them with extreme precision, instead they snap to a grid.

Overall a great brain teaser level that I will be visiting again soon. Check out the level in my sig when you get the time. No need to leave feedback unless you want to. Thanks
EDIT: Oh I just noticed you played my level already. Thanks again.

This was pretty cool, I like how well this premise translates to LBP. It was a little tricky trying to get the blocks into their exact right spot sometimes to allow other blocks past, but I'm not sure what could be done about this. I played through all three modes, and I seemed to be getting stars I didn't deserve. On my hard mode playthrough, I got times of like 2:30, 1:50, and 0:58. For all of these, I got two stars, which didn't make sense according to the 1:15 time-to-beat. It was cool to see a level like this in action, anyway... It could use some more interesting decor but it works great as is.2011-04-16 22:19:00
