3D Model of Sackboy

Archive: 22 posts

Hey guys & galz!

I've been spending the last day or two modelling and tweeking this Sackboy. I'm pretty happy with it as it's my only my second model. If people have any comments then let me know so I can make it better. Also if anyone is any good at texturing and rigging let me know as I want to do that too but I can't get it right so any help with that would be awesome.

Anyways here is a picture:

Textured:

Made zip bigger, material darker and eyes glossier!

Update:

Just did a better render. IMO looks a lot better.

Is it free? Also, could you post a link to where you got it at?2011-04-15 00:10:00

It's free for students with an University Email address. You get a three year license with them.

Otherwise it's rather expensive.

Are you able to use equipment like laser cutters to actually transfer it out of the PC, and into real life?2011-04-15 00:51:00

UPDATE: Pretty much textured. Just need to add stitching and then I'm going to be animating it. I'll post the pic in the first post.2011-04-18 00:25:00

That looks awesome how long did that take?
Also some suggestions:
- Turn his "skin" a darker shade of the brown he is now (by a good bit)
- Add more gloss to his eyes.
- Enlarge the zip to around double or more of what it is now.

I can imagine it would be really accurate, it seems you already have the proportions perfect.

Would you be comfortable with sharing the file as a .obj when you're done?2011-04-18 08:22:00

Hmm I'm not sure, I might be able to mod it to have his mouth open but I don't have time to look into that for a weeks. I will as soon as I get the time.

Porbably, depends what it's for. It's part of a University assignment so I can't really share it until it's been marked so they don't think I've stolen it.

I'm working on the stitching now but I've not done much 3ds max so I'm struggling with it.

Well they can use machines such as 3d printers to be able to bring this into real life but the equipment and materials are really expensive depending on what size you want to make, in Australia 1cmx1cmx1cm costs 50c and if you want to print something like that solid would cost approximately around $30. Here are some examples of what I done in school which costs around $25 334333343433435

Only took a few days, Sackboy is a pretty simple character compared to a lot of game characters.

Wow thats very neat. I've never seen any programs that can do that unless it was a 3D game maker.2012-02-10 13:02:00
