Need help making a mine cart.
Archive: 9 posts
Good Morning, I need help creating a mine cart that operates in a similar fashion to donkey kong country. It needs to constantly move forward along the terrain at a constant speed. The only thing I want to be able to control, is making the cart jump. I've used the control seat, hooked up up the X button to a sequencer that makes the cart lift off for a second along with activating a gyroscope to give it a bit of tilt back. The problem comes about when you try to get the cart to constantly move forward. When you jump, the cart pauses, rises up and starts to float. I've also tried attaching a follower to the cart and having it follow a moving tag. Same thing occurs. (I actually managed to make the cart float in place after I exited the control seat, using no dark matter or anti-grav tweakers. Any advice the community could provide would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time. | 2011-04-14 07:12:00 Author: Unknown User |
How are you currently making it move foraward and jump? I think with basic movers as long as the movement are orthogonal they shouldnt interfere with eachother. | 2011-04-14 13:22:00 Author: Unknown User |
I attached a mover to the cart that makes it go forward. To jump, I have a sequencer that makes it move up for a second, and then is blank, to allow it to come back down. | 2011-04-14 18:16:00 Author: Unknown User |
Hi there. I think i have your solution. set this up- set your SEQUENCER to 2 blocks long by 2 widein the top left corner of the seequencer panel place the mover and extend it by one extra unit. On the next row, under the extra unit lenght, place a GYROSCOPE. Now, set the following- THE SEQUENCER...Strips per. seond=0.5 THE MOVER...Left/Right Speed=2.0, Up/Down Speed=40.0, Acceleration=100%, Deceleration=90% THE GYROSCOPE...Rotation Speed=360, Strenght Acceleration=62.0 I think the reason when you press the X butto it stops moving forward and goes straight up is because you need to set the movers left/right speed too. try to set it at something similar to the moving speed of the mine cart. So, as the cart is travelling, pressin X will make the cart, not just raise up in a jump, but also be moving forward and up. The gyroscope setting on the sequencer simply stabises the decent to give an arcing jump. . If you want the mover to propell you forward set a left/right speed on it. I hope that helps :-) | 2011-04-15 03:38:00 Author: Sean88 Posts: 662 |
I believe if you check (or uncheck) local space on the mover it should work. | 2011-04-15 03:47:00 Author: FocusRSdude Posts: 145 |
That line of reasoning worked. Thank you so much for pointing me in the right direction Sean 88. I tweaked it a ton and have been refining its movements through impact sensors and extended logic. Hopefully I'll have a "fail proof" version working soon. | 2011-04-16 05:18:00 Author: Unknown User |
aww. your welcome my friend ;0) Lets know how you get on. Good luck | 2011-04-17 22:48:00 Author: Sean88 Posts: 662 |
I have had the same poroblem with makeing a boat. I found something that works: Open up the control seat's micro chip place a ADVANCED mover Tweaks: Speed: max speed you want it to go. Local space: just move switch it to the other one. Lower the choice under the speed (the one that controls how fast it would fall) just hook up the middle button to the Left/Right input Then, place a timer with a counter(set to one) and a impact switch. Tweak the time that you want the time you want it to go up, and "count down". hook counter to the timer and the impact switch to the reset of the counter. So when you get in, a positive signal would go into the Left/Right. When you press the jump button, for a limited time it would go up, then when the timer goes out, it falls back down, and only when you land the counter would reset and it would let the player jump again. This is just one way i found works for me... I see that you said you found another way, just do what you want to do | 2011-04-18 02:57:00 Author: Unknown User |
