last year, on LBP1, i began work on an internal combusion engine, due to a gap in technology i was unable to complete it. Now on LBP2 i have a working vehical, with several large diffrences. It now uses rockets instead of explosives and it has a completly diffrently designed clutch which works more efficently than using pistons and a gear on LBP1. However its speed is very limited and it is quicker to walk than to use the car. But it does have the advantage of being able to stop and start with the engine remaining running and if the engien does stop it can be restarted. Does anyone have any ideas of how to improve the speed? I will post a picture of it with in the next few hours. I just need to finnish stickering it becuase at the moment it is just cardboard and metal.

Does anyone have any ideas of how to improve the speed? Well, a real vehicle would typically have a gear system between the engine and the wheels.

What Aya said. If, however, for some reason you can do that or you want it faster again I'd suggest tinkering with the 'cam timings' I'm not sure how much it will help or what sort of a setup you have but that's what I used to change the speed of my engine in LBP1 since I was using a direct drive (one gear)

Yes. whatever type of switch you are using (i'll assume its X on the controllinator) connect it up to a mover. There tons of ways to increase speed. You can do a gear system- On the microchip place a SELECTOR connected to with 7 ports. Wire the button you want to select the gears (say X) to the Selectors cycle tab. and make the selectors starting port, port 1. Now connect the output from each port on the selector up to a mover. (so thats 7. 1 mover for each port). Select the mover connected to selector port 1 and bring up its tweak menu. Set it to speed 0.0, and acceleration strenght of 100 (this will be the 'stopped, neutral' gear) Select the mover connected to selector port 2 and bring up its tweak menu. Set it to speed 0.1 and acceleration strenght to 100 Select port 3's mover and make its speed 1.0, acceleration 100 Select port 4's mover and make its speed 2.0, acceleration 100... and so on to 100 Hope thats of use my friend :-)

Thanks for the help. using better gears and ajusting the cam timings it now goes much faster than a sackboy/girl. I also added another set of rockets in the 2 cylinders and it was so powerful i had to add in a speed control.

Hello, yesterday i was able to make an working car, but today i am having a diffrent problame. when i release the clutch and the drive wheels engage the engine slows down for a few seconds and acceleration is very limited, is there any way to prevent this from happening?

It sounds like whatever gear you're starting the car in is too high of a gear. Try using a lower gear to start the car.

It is only a 1 speed gearbox and it is currently 1:1 and if i lower the gear the speed might drop, but i will try it. Thanks, that has defenatly made it better, but i cant make the gear at the back any bigger becuase of the possition of the wheel and the second cylinder so i wont be able to make it any better.
