Soldier of Plastic: Plastigeddon (Early WIP Demo) (Not finished)

Please dont be put off by the fact this has hardly any plays or likes, its constantly being spammed off the new levels page by people repeatedly publishing their levels


Me again! I've published a small and unfinished demo for a project I plan to work on after the release of the first ASTRO level ( a demo can be found here http://lbp.me/v/zrx8np ) anyways, to my new project: Soldier of Plastic: Plastigeddon, a clich? packed side scrolling shooter in the vein of metal slug etc. I got sick of programming sackbots so I was fiddling with story objects, the plastic soldiers from the wilderness levels in LBP 1, so I kept tweaking and came out with a gun firing, wall climbing and most importantly controllable Soldier (complete with toy story style waddle). The level is basic with a short tutorial at the beginning that talks through the controls.

FEATURES


A working Shooting and reloading mechanic
A non-hologram based HUD (so you can see the **** thing )
Wall jumps! allways good to have a bit 'o' wall jumping!
Grenades! with flashy lights!!!!!
Enemies that can fight back (also plastic soldiers, just stickered red)
Destructable pieces of environment eg. weak walls, fuel tanks
health kits that rarley work (what? I said it was work in progress)
And things so awsome I may have forgotten them!

Working on/to do


A soundtrack
Other environments (mining facility is the only one in the demo)
Enemy types (Im gonna add those bandits from Boom town as enemies in a different level)
More weapons (not weapon swapping, each mission will have a different loadout e.g Shotgun and frags or Machine gun and flashbangs)
A menu system


I may require a bit of help from some of the more talented peeps here at LBPC, not with the whole thing, just titbits of logic, Im fine with environments and writing scripts, Im just saying my logic is messy, working, but hard to understand

Further on in development I may create a locked level select level and use a 'Comphermc' style lockbox to give away keys, or (for fear of the key glitch) just link the lockbox and the level select menu. I'll update this post with details at a later point. For now though I would appreciate it if you queue my level, give it a play and leave suggestions on the level and/or here on this post.

I would accept requests to join me and turn this into a team thing but I have a COD obsessed brother to contend with so my commitment to a team would be limited. I also like hogging the glory obviously

i'll give it a go later tomorrow, looks good and i know how you feel when you spend hours making the level then know one plays it, and whats even worse is that some peoples levels which get lots of plays and are rubbish. Thats the one thing that really annoys me about LBP!2011-04-12 21:56:00

Cool idea! Thank you for making the hud visible, haha. I restarted this a few times to poke around cause I broke it cuz yeah it's not done, but I don't think I ever had a problem with the health pack. I don't know how you got the soldier to control like he does but it works well.2011-04-13 04:43:00
