I like the concept and the controls work pretty well (takes a little getting used to target tag still being active after selecting another bot. The levels play well, but I did have some issues.

First playthrough, level froze right at the start of section 2.
On second playthrough, in section 3, all bots got stuck in the upper section with 2 buttons, and their was no way to progress. I don't mind them getting stuck as a way of 'punishing' the player, but don't make them have to restart the whole level. Killing them all right then would be too easy and an unfair shortcut, so how about a game function that restarts just that section of the level? The easier way out would be releasing that wall if the bots step off of them.
Overall, it was frustrating to place tags and not know the bots' invisible range for seeing them. I'd either make their range longer, play a sound of it's out of range, or something. Also, bots don't naturally fall down holes, which makes finishing out a level a challenge, so maybe activate an animation that makes them fall once they're within range of the exit tube.

I see a MM Pick comment in your post and some reviews. The level is good, no doubt, but I hope you're not getting your hopes up to much and determined to get it, MM Picked is rare even for great levels. Try to just enjoy the attention it receives, and I'm sure it will receive plenty. If you want to push the level the next, well, level, here's some ideas:
More detailed decorations, assign roles to sackbots just like the old Lemmings game, more puzzles than 5 (and make later ones even harder than the current ones), play around with the physics tools within the game a bit more.

BTW, also checked out the Mega Man level. Pretty sweet.

If you'd like to try out my level, the forum link for Part 2 and level links for Parts 1 & 2 are in my signature.

Good luck with the level.

thank you for the feedback very helpful. last night i went on and pretty much got all the fixes, i will now look into the wall one and i know about how they all might get stuck but thats the idea of a challenging puzzle. I will do my best to make it that you cant get stuck the way you did. For the freezing after the 1st stage, a few people have mentioned that and i think i have fixed it as it has never happened to me, there was nothing wrong with the logic so maybe its just a game bug that i cant do anything about. But i will do my best to sort these things out. And about the MM picks, quite a few people have suggested it to go up for it, one particular comment said it was just what the community needed so MM cant choose to ignore such a comment like that. But i understand, i just hope it picks up a bit, at 125 plays now.2011-04-12 12:53:00

update, i tried doing the animations at the end of the level for the sackbots but i came accross two problems, people who werent quite finished did not get to continue the way they wanted and that they would sometimes just completely miss the hole all together even with the acting microchip. The manual finish hasn't brought up any other issues so far and it seems to work fine. Thanks for the heads up anyways.2011-04-12 13:12:00

Great concept! It is reminiscent of Lemmings in certain parts, isn't it? Haha. I wish the sackbots would "follow" things more closely but that's a general LBP2 complaint. I also would like some sort of destination marker, like a hologram that appears when you hit square. The trickiest parts for me were when sackbots would follow old destination markers because I wanted to place a new one after I selected the new sackbot. Is there a way that zero sackbots selected or pressing circle could destroy the destination marker? That would make things work a bit more smoothly I think.

I kind of have a love/hate relationship with Davinci/Craftworld themed levels because they look so simple but it works to their benefit as long as you keep the player engaged. The puzzles themselves were very easy, great for proof of concept but won't challenge many players. I hope you've got more in the works! If you can implement destination marker deletion, things would work more intuitively for the player and then you as the creator would be able to present more challenging puzzles. The part at the end where you command your own sackbot was a nice finish, btw. Keep it up!

I liked this level, but I couldn't beat it haha I think I could have tried harder but I just really didn't understand how things were working and a lot of the time I killed my sackbots on accident.

The davinci thing is boring and overused, this level is better than that. I think you were going for a tutorial level, which is cool if thats the case, but in future versions of this it would be nice to see some varied environments.

I liked the concept and Idea of this game, but it really isn't lemmings at all. I think if you wanted to get MM pick with a level called lemmings, you may want to actually try making it like lemmings haha. Lemmings wear blue and have green hair. They walk straight forward, turn around when they bump into something, and definitely do not jump or fear danger, and I'm almost positive you could make a sackbot do that exact behavior, but I don't really ever use sackbots so I'm not sure.

You already have a nice little cursor and bot selection bit of logic going on in this level, and clearly you understand sackbots fairly well, so i feel like if you just worked on this a bit more, you could have a very nice lemmings game with different behaviors and costumes for sackbot lemmings that do different things. It would be amazing to start a level in lbp where i could select a sackbot and give him a grabinator, or something, and see it apply to a hybrid lemmings/lbp concept. THAT would be MM picked... I think.

This reminds me more of this other (also great) game i used to play called the lost vikings.

Either way, this level is definitely doing something I've never seen before, but its for sure not lemmings and I think the misleading title may put some people off. I'd recommend either changing the title and fleshing out your own great idea, or try a little harder to achieve lemmings gameplay.

Nice level though!

This level was sweet. The mechanics were solid and the obstacles looked good. There is a lot you could do with this, like a sackbot emitting sticky bricks into inclined planes, climbers, blockers etc...

Did you ever try having the tag that the bots follow on a pulse? I had to hit it a couple times to keep selected bots moving to the spot. Great so far! Can't wait for more levels/challenges.

Oh Yeah! Very very good, indeed! Although.. It wasn't quite Lemmings, but what the heck. It probably attracts a lot of players to your level, so I get that.

But, that is my kind of level! Awesome job!

You should definately add more stages, and now that you've got the tech down also up the challenge a lil bit. It was a bit on the easy side.
There is a slight problem selecting individual sackbots when they are standing in a crowd, but I see that this is kinda challenging.
Maybe you should add some kind of indicator light that telles the player which sackbot the cursor is on before selecting?

You should definately try my level out(the one in the sig). I think it's right up your alley

Yay'ed and hearted!

ha! I'm such a doof. I just read your comment on my LPB.me page and had to go look at the level instructions and sure enough, there it is in blue in white "skip tutorial with L2"
In my defense, it was late and was just too excited to read instructions. But, I did like the level and thought you did a good job and would like to see you expand on this idea; make the level bigger, more puzzles, more hazards and maybe even more bots. Good job

Good level here. I had a fun time. I'd like to see some more complex puzzles later if you decide to revisit this.2011-04-15 22:42:00
